Everyone I know keeps telling me that I should try out for Don't Forget The Lyrics. I think they're all nuts.
It's true that I love music and I know a lot of lyrics, and I don't mind singing in public (obviously, as I'm in a band). But just because I'm a musician doesn't mean that I know all the lyrics to everything. They tend to do a lot of songs from anywhere between the fifties and the nineties. I'm okay with the stuff I grew up with, but if you go too far back to stuff? I'm clueless. There's also a lot of stuff I don't listen to. Katrina and the Waves? Uh, I'm not so sure.
Even if I did, the longer the game goes on, the more ridiculous it gets. It's one thing to come up with the next phrase but twelve missing words? In a studio with everybody looking at you? Not so easy. They had Lionel Richie once and it was like nine missing words. I had absolutely no idea whatsoever.
Before you say that I'm just being nervous? Bret Michaels was just on there playing for charity. Do you know the category he screwed up on? "Hair Bands." The man is the lead singer of Poison and he couldn't figure out a category about hair bands. After seeing that trainwreck I'm not taking anything for granted.
