This is not that weird...the Unitarian Universalists have a whole pagan branch, and a friend of mine who is a HPS is active in the UU church here in Boulder. She feels its important for her kids to grow up with some structure.

I grew up UU and was UU even when I was an atheist. Some of what they had to offer was important to me. Two years ago I went to their winter solstice ritual and that was my Yule.

Plus, depending on your beliefs, all gods are one God/dess, so it doesn't really matter who you worship.

Yeah! And that's what Unity is all about - I think it's mainly Christianity (focusing more on Christ's life than his death), but they quote and use teachings from all sorts of different religions. It's great.

i'm glad to hear you liked the unity. i was tempted to go to a unity i heard about in Denver, but my friend had a party last night and i wasnt up before noon. :) oops.

like you said, it wasn't something i took so *serious*... i just always enjoy it. :)

I always feel like if I decide to go to a church or something, and if I don't go sometimes, I'm like...Betraying someone...Or something. it's really weird. And then I get too serious and I end up stopping anyway. And I want to stop doing that. =P

Which Unity were you gonna go to? Where do you live, anyway?

i live in downtown denver. i heard there was a unity here in denver somewhere and i was going to look into it, but when i got home so late last night, i knew i wasnt going to be waking up.

i know what you mean about deciding to go to church. it just makes me feel better to go; so, if anything, by not going, i'm betraying myself. but "betray" is kind of a harsh word... i think of it more as my predilection for abundance and prosperity... and by not going, i'm succombing to my avoidance of things that make me feel good that require effort... like exercising... i know it'll make me feel better, but sometimes it requires a lot more motivation than eating. :)

Yeah, exactly. It is like exercising. Everything is like exercising. It's horrible...The only thing that isn't is work...Because I make money doing it. Not great money. But money nonetheless.

Ok I'm like in this weird "I hate America" thing right now. I'm going to shut up now.

But yeah. Exercise is a good metaphor.
