Ok, I have a major bone to pick. I'm watching VH1's "I love 1986" 'cuz I'm bored and have nothing better to do with my time, and someone mentioned the word pot and they bleeped it out...When just moments before, someone said something about how Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach" could be about a girl having a baby that is her father's and why didn't we ( Read more... )

They did that sort of thing to a Sleater-Kinney video too.

Apparently rappers can talk about hos, bitches, rape, and gangs, but a trio of white women can't say the word "gun".

Totally serious.

Go there and watch the video for "Entertain", on television, the word "gun" gets edited out.

not being able to say pot? i know jim morrison wasn't aloud to say "girl we couldn't get much higher" while on a tv spot, but that was the 60's...
more reasons why i rarely watch television...

and i've never heard ideas that "papa don't preach" is about a girl possibly having her father's baby...
curious what part of the song that idea came from?

Ok...I'm sure you guys get VH1 in Canada, but maybe you've never seen the show...They have these shows called "I love ____;" the blank is whatever year they're talking about. And they talk about stuff that happened in that year, TV shows, songs, trendy toys, whatever. And they have these comedians that most of the time no one has ever heard of saying sarcastic things about whatever they're talking about. So this one guy who wasn't very funny said that sarcastically about Madonna's song. I guess to be funny and put a new spin on things or whatever. I didn't find it very amusing. =P

i suppose that the nowadays television says so many censurable things that it´s easier for their conscience to censor one word "pot" than whole phrases or dialogs. If someone asks they are actually censoring something...

Well, they barely censored it. You could totally hear what they were saying. But the fact that they had to was just abominable. =P Or whatever. I don't know if that words works in that way...=P

i just read a lot of stuff from the site you gave me...
It makes me feel so sad how the world has to suffer under the ignorance of others. I really hope they get otu of jail soon, and that your event is very successful. Please tell how it goes once you´ve done it?
And if I can help you anyhow, just tell.

Thanks so much. There actually is one thing you can do - tell people about it. There are a lot of people all around the world who know about it and support the cause, but still not enough. For one thing, the new attorneys are very expensive and these three guys and their families have no money; their moms are living in trailer parks, one mother lost her job because during her son's trial, she didn't go to work so she could testify, but they never called her to the stand and she lost her job. Etc. Etc. Etc. So just tell people. Maybe that way we can get more donations and stuff.
