So I suppose the thing to do is just to start rewatching the X-files for all Vince Gilligan's episodes. Which probably a bunch of people have already done. It's just that recently whenever anyone brings up an episode, it seems to be one of his.

Been feeling this pull also. But I've never seen a good episode of that show, and I heard Gilligan's habit of giving his writers credit for episodes that were mostly his was learned from Carter.

Yeah, X Files - even through this is true for everything - probably has one's number or doesn't. It has mine, but there are still a lot of bad episodes.

I don't think I had a problem with the premise or the murmuring characters. Probably my attention span back then was to blame - I didn't do well with any 1-hour '90s shows but Twin Peaks.

Let us know what turns up if you go looking.

Well, from the rest of this thread, it seems like there are at least 2 S5 eps worth trying.

Bad Blood, season five, episode 12, is so my jam. It's in line with my favorite episodes: the non-canon one-offs often written by guest writers. Mulder and Scully in [insert crazy situation] is the dream. Established characters with an established rapport in a world where anything can happen.

Bad Blood - following another episode mentioned by lapsedmodernist - is EXACTLY what prompted this post.

I just saw it for the first time last night, to break up some question sections.

DARIN MORGAN. His Millennium eps were great too.

oh yeah. But I believe the absolute perfection of "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'" is well-established. The VG thing was news to me.
