A year ago I was in South America, at this time I was somewhere up in the Bolivian highlands, probably trying to convince myself I was not that unfit and doing my best to blame the altitude (it was all in excess of 3.5km up).  Thinking about such things has lead me to think about places yet to go, so I thought I'd make some notes ( Read more... )

I know someone who hiked over PNG, it did sound rather interesting, although very strenuous.

I thought about Florida to Alaska. My last trip to the US I got the train from Boston to San Jose which I really enjoyed, but also at the time I needed a few days to just veg. I'd love to do it in a car and have a decent amount of time, so you could get off the main road, stop and poke your head around the more interesting areas.

Ahh, that way. I looked at that last year. Some people take a ferry from Panama into the southern end of Columbia or even into Ecuador or they go via the Caribbean. It would be an awesome trip, the full TransAmerican Highway. I'd want to improve my Spanish though.

My sister did an archeological dig over there a few years ago. That sounded like a lot of fun. I probably wouldn't mind doing something like that.
