I have a mac at work. I have never been much of mac sort of person. I've used them, but I've never liked them. I got one last year in my old job, used it seriously for two weeks, then gave up and put Windows on it. Hardware wise, it is quite nice, but I hung out and ordered a non-glossy screen, for which I attracted some ribbing, until they saw

When enabled, TimeMachine does hourly backups in the background to an external or NAS drive, I backup all three of mine to my Drobo.

Have you found out about multiple desktops yet? I use that and tie each app to a different desktop or group related apps to one desktop.

I've got Time Machine running, so I'll have a backup up to Monday morning. I don't see myself loosing anything, even if they wipe the disk and re-install it, it is more an annoyance. Some of the sections at work have NDAs and confidentially clauses, they're not allowed to send back a disk with data on it, so their only options are to send it to the internal IT group who crack it, pull out the disk and then argue with Apple that is should still be fixed under warranty.

I've never been much of a fan of multiple desktops. I find I tend to work in lots of windows at the same time, so I might have two or three sessions open to a single machine and juggle between them with maybe one or two other sessions open as references on other machines. About the only thing I can spin off into a different desktop is email and that usually sits on a different monitor. A lot of people freak out when they see my desktop and 14 open terminal windows. :)

Oh, if it wasn't under warranty, that's what I'd do. I'll probably buy a set of drivers and keep them at work, just add them to the other collection of weird and wonderful gear we have. We actually have some goopy stuff ehre and I suspect I could make a cast of them which would work quite nicely.
