I posted this on my own page, but since I'm new to LJ and I only have one person who reads my journal right now, God bless her, I thought I would post it here, too

I really love this idea. And yes, it would be a severe undertaking. My suggestion is, if you decide you want to write this, make yourself copious notes before you start writing. Yes, your notes will change with the story. You may go off in a completely different direction than what you thought. But notes help so much.
On really long stories, I usually have notes for days. I may rearrange them in order, I may write them out of order. I may ditch half of them. But I have them, and it gives me a frame to look at, and work with, and that always helps.
Your art is really pretty! And the story idea is, too. And has the possibility of being heartwrenching. Wow.
Thank you for the advice. I had a few notes typed up in Word, but even just writing this idea summary helped me clarify some things. I am going to keep writing notes on this and refining the story line. Who knows if this will see the light of day, but I hope it will. Honestly, I could do the fan art stuff in my sleep; putting together things in Photoshop comes naturally because of what I do for a living, but aside from writing newsletter articles for clients and narrative blog posts for my business, I've never been inclined to write until now. This is what Logan and Marie do to me! :)
I hope I didn't sound cocky just now by saying that I could do the fan art in my sleep; I just meant it to emphasize how much I feel like a fish out of water when it comes to writing! I often wonder about all the people who write such amazing fics, and if they've been writing their whole life.
Love the idea!! I don't write a whole lot of fanfic and I've only shared a bit of it, but I read tons and tons and tons of it. That said, my suggestion is to write what needs to be written. Even if that means you have one scene here and one scene there, or a 100,000+ words epic novel. Write everyday and practice. Not everything written will be good, but the practice is invaluable. Don't be worried if you find the writing process frustrating and arduous - from my own and other people's experiences, it is; you just keep doing it because you have to. Don't get too hung up on the "shoulds" and "supposed tos", write in the way that works for you. That could mean jumping all over the place, writing all the way through from beginning to end, detailed outlining to later flesh out, or something completely different. Do what works for you and remember that resistance just might be a sign to go a different direction or do something else for awhile

Thank you so much for your words of wisdom! I really like that, "Write what needs to be written". I will try not to get too hung up on the "shoulds" and give myself permission to screw up, as long as I keep working at it. Great idea about avoiding writer's block!
