People carrying guns that I approve of and wholeheartedly support. And now they're getting bigger bangier guns. I'd makea comment about STOPPING POWER and other things like that but I admit I have no idea about any of it ( Read more... )

I don't think I'm ever going to get used to the idea of common or garden Police being armed. It's one of those weird quaint British opinions I have.

It's one of the things I find awesome about the UK. But for whatever reason, our cops are armed and have been for a long time. And I'm actually quite ok with that.

I still really dislike personal gun ownership/use but I don't want to turn this into yet another anti-gun/pro-gun argument between WEERD and myself. I was actually wondering what his opinion on the new guns our guys are getting was.

Revolvers have better stopping power. That being said switching to a polymer duty-gun is lighter, easier to reload and swap damaged magazines (The number one failure point in semi-auto guns) also they take a little better to dirty conditions. Revolvers rarely jam while shooting (which occasionally happens to semis) but dusty, dirty, or muddy conditions can lock a wheel-gun up solid as a rock ( ... )
