Installing something like Adblock may well help make the irritating adverts go away.

Dunno if adblock works, but a flash blocker (like NoScript if you use firefox) will stop the ad from playing, then you just have to wait 5 secs for the [x] to appear on the black overlay and it goes away.

If it's a computer at work chances are it may not have firefox or chrome, but i think you can get flashblockers for IE?

I use Adblock, and I've never seen an advert or heard any music on LJ.

I've got my Friends page as one of my starting tabs, and it goes straight into that without ever showing me adverts. The ads only pop up when I click on someone's LJ-cut or try to comment.

I've never had a single advert successfully load (using Internet Explorer). Instead I just get that black overlay.

But that vanishes as soon as I refresh the page and I get to the bit I actually want to read.
