uh-oh. that's just the sort of recommendation i was afraid of. :)

it's a difficult movie to market - it has some of the delivery bits of "Buckaroo Bonzai" mixed with elements of "Flesh Gordon" but less silly, campy than FG - if nothing else, the acting is better, and even the "bad acting" is so in character. i was talking with a coworker this morning about the film and she said, "ah, Natalie Portman is going back to her StarWars days..." me, "yeah, she's pulling on all those skills that George Lucas taught her."

if you don't catch in the theater, no loss, as i'm sure i'll own the DVD as soon as it hits the shelves. :)
