I have had them for trochanteric bursitis (right where the hip & thigh meet) and in my shoulder before.
The last time I got them, the NP told me to take it easy the rest of the day and put ice in on a few times a day. No stairs. That's important, since stairs are difficult for me. I work in a basement, so they're a necessary evil.
I usually only rest 24 hours. Most of the time the shots help for a few months. I've had them wear off after 10 days before. Not fun. I'm considering getting some this week. My daughter is getting married on Saturday, and I'm having a heck of a time walking these days.
I also have FAI (hip impingement) and labral tears. I've been in PT for several months now, and it's helped.
Add me as a friend if you'd like. I'd love to talk to other "hippies". :)
I'm still being assessed for whats wrong with my hips, have to have blood tests done to rule out arthritis. I'm glad to hear the shots have helped for you, the only thing getting me through at the moment is knowing that having to rest like this and being uncomfortable is not going to last, and that maybe this winter I will have no pain. I'm still feeling pretty rubbish today and have a low mood- but that's more likely from not being able to get things done as I like to.
That's exciting about your daughter getting married!
Hmm, I'm not sure if the weakness is related to some kind of a nerve issue, or if it is something you've experienced before...like when you mentioned "weak core muscles"? I've had shots of Toradol (a pain killer they often give around the time of surgeries, though not a narcotic medication) injected into my hips previously, but I did not have any hip weakness, other than I could feel some soreness at the injection spot after the pain killer kicked in--if the injection was early enough in the course of the migraine to have any significant impact (or I guess it could have been near the end of the migraine at that point instead). When the pain killer did not kick in enough to knock out my pain following injections, the soreness around the injection spots didn't feel stronger than my other pain, so I didn't really notice the soreness as much at that point, because I get ocular migraines and my eyes were still killing me
( ... )
Worst advice lay around and rest, you need to exercise. the muscle causing you problems try yoga .stretching no impact exercise should make you feel better, steroids are a slippery sloop.
