I was wondering if you guys would be interested in affiliating with the land comm I run: atlaland. It's a land comm for the fans of the Avatar: the Last Airbender, and it's spin-off series The Legend of Korra, both of which are known for their strong and interesting female characters :)
Is there going to be a sig tag/team icon request challenge in the main community? If not, I was going to do one as a team activity in Flip Flops... but I didn't want to do one there if you were going to do a main one. :)
Also, is there or will there be a Mod community? (FYI, I am an active Mod, if you know me at all from LOA. LOL) It's always fun and good for the team mods to get to know each other.
Probably better for you guys to create it and then invite all the mods to join it. I know in LOA we use it for the head mods to communicate to the community mods, for the community mods to communicate with each other, strategize and share activity tips for teams, as well as for you guys to let us know when we have new members so we can welcome them, or to post potential inactivity cuts, so we can PM the person before they're cut to give them a chance to do something.
Hello! I'm a relatively new member and just wanted to say that I really think that it's a great comm with fun stuff to do.
Just one suggestion: I've noticed that in the challenges so far you cover most medium (fic, graphics, ) except for fanart (the scavenger hunt only had one fanart item while several fanfic ones).
I see that fanfic is probably more popular (or at least more people make it) but a bit more focus on fanart would be nice. Thanks! :)
Thank you for the suggestion, and I'm glad you like the comm! :)
I am planning to have a challenge where you need to draw something. And now that you said it I'm also going to include fanart every time there's a challenge where you can choose what kind of art you want to make. :)
Do you maybe have any more specific suggestions? Fanart is neglected mostly because challenges need to be as inclusive as possible (so that people who can't draw traditional art and don't have photoshop can still get participation points), but it doesn't mean that challenges have to be easy, so if you have any suggestion for an inclusive fanart challenge I'd love to use it. :D
Oh I definitely agree on being inclusive, I more meant that to have fanart as an option for medium when several are possible, like: Fanfic, graphic and / or fanart, instead of only fanfic and graphic. :)
As for inclusive fanart prompts, well there is always the Stickfigure prompt (everybody can draw stickfigures) and maybe the " use only MS paint" prompt.
But then again, why not have a regular fanart prompt? I mean, even if the pic is not perfect, same goes for fanfiction, specially since fanfic is probably a bit excluding for non native people :). But it's ok, if fanart is not that popular.
I appreciate your suggestions a lot! <3 I posted a challenge with a pretty important fanart option yesterday. :)
Personally I LOVE looking at fanart, btw, I think it's actually my favorite kind of fanwork to look at. :D (Hence the doll-making challenge, it was like fanart-lite. xD) I would enjoy seeing A LOT more of it, so it's always a bummer to me when it's not that realistic. I mean, some of my favorite fandom-y things don't have ANY fanart, and some have like 1 or 2 pieces on the entire internet. (It's also a bummer that I can't do fanart myself. I can only draw realistic stuff with a pencil and I don't know how to ~cartoonify people, let alone how to do any drawing on the computer.)
i know i just joined, but i'm going to opt out for now. I haven't done a single challenge in two weeks as i just don't have time, and i don't see that changing, i'm so sorry! I don't want to be a rubbish team member, but i hope to return when i have more time.

.. I hate to do this, but I'm realizing outside obligations are making it difficult to be active and I don't like holding spaces when someone else could fill them (and NaNo's coming up and eating all my time since I help run a couple of the online communities). I'll re-apply when I have a better handle on my RL and online scheduling. :(

I admit, I have zero experience with mod communities... Would you be willing to start one, or is it better if it's started by the main landcomm mod?
