Er...what?

Andy Murray just beat Roger Federer in straight sets.

Don't believe me? I don't blame you. Read about it on the BBC site.

It seems Federer wasn't his usual self, but still! Maybe Andy Murray does have what it takes after all.

Or maybe it's just a fluke, like Ivanisevic's wild-card win at Wimbledon.

I just freaked out and ran downstairs and went, "OMG DADDY IS IT TRUE? MURRAY BEAT FEDERER?"

I gesticulated frantically at my computer for several seconds--and then realised what I was doing and thanked god no one else was home.

Then I posted about it. :D

My Daddy made me feel better. He was all, "Maybe Federer wanted to rest before the US Open."

Whether or not he wanted to, he's certainly going to. Perhaps it's for the best.

Personally, I think he just got careless. There are some players (Nadal, Nalbandian) who seem to break his stride mentally. Andy may be one of them as well. And I think Andy was on a roll, having just beaten Tim Henman twice in two weeks.

I can just hear Tezuka pontificating about how tennis is a mental game.

Reading that as Anne Murray makes it ever so much stranger.

It's as if Horio beat Tezuka. Well, no, Andy's not that bad. Perhaps if Arai beat Tezuka.
