The Mountain's Call - Not the best book I have ever read but it was entertaining.  Even though it was your stereotypical "girl joins sexist male organization and becomes the best member of it in spite of everyone stopping her", it read well.  It has a pretty cover too.  Barnes and Noble didn't have book 2 in stock, the bastards.  Damn I need to

Carl Hiaasen writes kinda mysteries but they take place in crazy ass Florida and are hysterical with awsome characters including the former governor now known as skink. I have also just finished books one and two in Dean Koontz's odd series (Odd Thomas and Forever Odd) you would like it he sees ghosts including Elvis.
