We have to cross a moat to enter the intimidating door of the Goobshire Inn. Aligators in the murky waters below are snapping at our feet, trying to snatch our youthful figures.  Two plundering white rabbits in gold lamé suits greet us at the door.  "Salutations" they murmur, as they discreetly pick our pockets. We obliviously sway to the distant sounds of lounge music. We've entered a foyer where the walls are adorned with the butchered heads of former child stars. Pig fetuses are floating in jars of formaldehyde on the windowsills, as if cooling down like pie. Spotted lizards resting in velveteen armchairs are sipping absinthe from gourds, expressing their misogyny in other-worldly tongues. "My inamoratas", one lizard says, "They fluctuate often, you see." The other nods in agreeance.

We are shown to our room. We stroll down the hallways, each room with a different sound coming from it. The glow of a T.V. is escaping one. The sounds of shooting guns suggest the movie of the evening is an old Western. From another room comes the sound of whips, chains, and deep moaning. They most certainly are enjoying their stay at the Goobshire Inn, I think to myself. We finally reach our room. There's a sign above the door that reads : Parcheesi Crescendo. I decide it would be better not to think too hard about that one. The rabbit says "Enjoy your stay" before closing the door behind him. We set our suitcases on the Renaissance-like bed, and unlock them to find our belongings replaced with a plethora of mind enhancers. No complaints over this! We pop some of them into our slavering mouths. Pink pills, blue liquids, orange powders and we head out for some much needed food. We step out of the room, and ahead of us walks a tall dark figure with the aid of a jade cane. He has a long black cape on and carries a hat box. His pace increases as if from paranoia and disappears around a corner.

We enter a circular room, and straight away a stagnant stench of lost innoscence hits me. However, I'm feeling quite satiated from my previous ingestions. Uncontrollable laughter sets in and immediatley, I'm given numerous cold stares, so I stop myself. Without even ordering anything, a waitor sets down a plate in front of me and welcomes us in a most sardonic manner. A select few of his teeth are encrusted with emeralds. When he turns away, there is a slight bulge coming from the small of his back. A tail, I assume. For it starts moving when greeting an attractive female.

On the plate below is a mass of worm-like bodies. I prod it with my fork, and one hops off the plate and onto the floor. We finish our meal and venture elsewhere. The hallways are dimly lit by candles and the walls seem to be covered in a fine fuzz. We follow others into a curtain-drawn room. Inside is a magic show held by Lothario, himself. There are dreamlike, psychadelic patterns on the walls, and I am immediatley distracted by this. I am nudged to pay attention to the dexterous magician. The phrase "ABRACADABRA" expells from his orifice (which one?) and there is a great flashing of lights, smoke and thunder. There is a raucous reaction from the audience when they realize their source of entertainment for the evening has been sent to the exosphere.

We decide to move on, and went on a search for the music that exalted us when we arrived. Located below, what seemed an endless spiral staircase, is a small dungeon-like room. The source of light are neon green light bulbs. And the smell of goobis is overwhelming. The seats are made of armadillo shells, lined with mink, and adorned with lapis lazuli stones. There is a weathered man in the corner playing the sitar. [no longer a lounge act]. And we let the sounds of the sitar enter our body, much like the goobis. It is so transcendent that it lifts us to our bed.

We awake the next morning to the sounds of an accordian. A man in overalls with missing teeth is outside our door giving us our 'wake-up call'. We hurriedly pack up our things and leave the Goobshire Inn. It was a good escape from the norm...
