AFF “WHAT THE HECK, JONGDAE? WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK?”
Byun Baekhyun was seconds away from stabbing his manager with all the blunt objects he could find within the four walls of his apartment. His all-knowing, pushy, and one hell of troll for a manager signed him up for a stupid reality variety show. At first, he felt iffy about it. He was a budding idol, and his career was just reaching its peak. His second album, which he released just a month ago, was doing well. His single even topped the charts two weeks in a row. He didn’t need the extra publicity, if he were to be asked. But his manager assured him that it would only do him and his career good. And it would make him more of a household name than just a name teenagers and some adults fawn over.
“And besides, it’s the boss who wanted you to do it, you can’t say no to that.” He remembers Jongdae saying.
But right now, with a fork in his hand and Jongdae’s wrist on the other, it felt so right to voice out his anger, “God Jongdae, when you signed me up for that stupid virtual marriage show, I thought they’d at least pair me up with some hot idol or model or something! But they just had to pair me up with Park freaking Chanyeol!”
The veins on Baekhyun’s neck and forehead were becoming visible, and his face was scary shade of red. And the look on Jongdae’s face was of pure shock and horror. Never has Baekhyun lashed out like that, not when the producers shot down and rejected the songs he wrote for his album, not when an article was released about him dating a member of a girl group, and not even when he was outted gay to the whole country by one of his stupid label mates.
But there was something about Park Chanyeol that gets on Baekhyun’s nerves every single time. The stupid actor slash director who’s now his virtual husband.
Baekhyun thrust the fork forward, aiming for Jongdae’s nose, but his manager was quick to dodge, “It’s not like I would’ve known who you were going to be paired up with, Baek! Let me go, and let’s talk about how it went down, please just put down the freaking fork.”
The fear (and amusement) in Jongdae’s eyes was enough for Baekhyun to snap out of his fit, release Jongdae, and put down the fork.
Baekhyun sighed deeply and voiced out his frustrations, “Sorry, Dae… It’s just, god, that was the most awkward day in my entire life. He doesn’t even remember, but I do! This is so unfair, why do I have to be the one who carries the burden or remembering the shit that went down?”
Baekhyun frowned as the side of Jongdae’s lips lifted to form a smirk, “Baek, it’s been what? 5 years? That was even before either of you debuted, what’s the big deal?”
“Well Kim Jongdae, you know that I’ve never been a good actor. And I need to act all lovey dovey with him for god knows how long on national television, wouldn’t that be a problem?”
