Continuing on with catching up on all the tv I couldn't watch during the season: The Borgias. Which is... kind of perfect? Kind of really perfect? Occasionally painful and awful, but executed perfectly. Not to be ridiculous, but it makes my heart hurt a little sometimes. Like art can. Anyway, I am enjoying it and am super thrilled it will be back ( Read more... )

OH MY GOD. NO ONE TOLD ME MACHIAVELLI WAS ON THIS SHOW. SEE NOW I ACTUALLY HAVE TO WATCH IT. I was always happy there was a series about the Borgias, 'cause I mean PERFECT DRAMA FODDER, but wasn't necessarily personally interested. BUT NOW?!

He's only in two episodes (I haven't seen all of them yet, could be he still shows up), but he is DELIGHTFUL.

Ahahaha, how much do I love that you would also get flaily over Machiavelli?

Man, I fangirled the man's tomb. In a totally classy manner, of course.

It makes me tsk that The Prince is interpreted as political advice rather than the obvious droll, cynical thing it is.

He's apparently in three episodes of the season. Don't they realize they should be contriving excuses for him to provide commentary on like every scene?

Of course.

Clearly! Even on swordfighting scenes, there should be Machiavellian commentary. Giulia brushes Lucrezia's hair, Machiavelli should give his opinion.

Thus far, "Covert Affairs" is a little better this season. It's still a sort of dopey show, but good times for summer fun, and the higher-ups seem to have finally caught on to the fact that the girls like Auggie.

It's not that I want it to turn suddenly into Alias (actually...), good times are really all I'm looking for. Hmm. I do have the first episode of the season ready to go, I should at least see if it grabs me.

Oh, I love, love, love The Borgias (and faithfully reviewed every episode).

Icon love: well do I remember when I wondered whether I'd ever find enough when the limit was 45, and look at me now...

Yes, I remember seeing your posts during the season. It's a very layered, very rich show, and the acting is wonderful. Plus, it just looks beautiful. I wonder where it's filmed. *looks it up* Hungary, huh.

I have too many fandoms! I need icons to express my feelings! How can I properly express myself without enough 100x100 pixel squares?
