Thank you! The scene was lovely indeed, though a bit of blue in the sky would have been even better.
A public footpath runs through the field that you see here next to Hampton Poyle church (was locked) and then onto a sloping meadow with clear ridges and furrows from the old mediaeval strip system.
Beyond that, on the next hill or so, are the square lumps and bumps of the grassed-over streets of Hampton Gay, one of Oxfordshire "lost" villages, first recorded in 1167 and now vanished.
I enjoyed a long walk in this area which is famous for its golden stone and gentle farmland. The walk took me along a river and by a canal and past about four churches and through at least five parishes, all with many lambs and sheep close to the footpath. The animals did not seem at all concerned by the presence of people (and their cameras!) so peaceful indeed.
