A friend returned from Norway this weekend with spectacular fjord photos and splendid Viking chocolates.  For PS, my mind was on Pip and I thought how much he would have loved to have played the weed-strewn troll-hound in the fjords!  Imagine the fun if he had happened upon a few vikings to chase as well ( Read more... )

Awesome chocolates! Would almost be a shame to eat them. Almost!

Well, I've photographed them but I haven't eaten any yet! The viking in the dragon prow will be the last to "die". The first is the viking with the round shield, I think - just because he is already more damaged than the ship.

I am saving the first chomp till after my kung fu class tomorrow night. Oh, DG - the nights are already becoming Autumnal here - dark by 8.30... not long ago it was still light(ish) at 10. *sigh*

They are too delicious not to die, right? Hope you enjoyed the first chomp.

I know! It's 8:30 pm here and it just got dark. It's still a very nice, warm, summery night, though. Winter, winter, stay away.

Wonderful chocolates! A feast for the eyes as well as a feast for the chocoholic.

Yes, I could easily picture Pip marauding the fjords. I do so miss his antics with seaweed...

Hee! That's a wonderful, airborne, lunatic shot! Pip with trophy, no doubt about to receive the shaking of its weedy existence! Brilliant picture. He's a born fjord troll-hound.

Chocolate come second but are fine (I don't yet know what they taste like. I trust that not too much fish oil was involved in the manufacture...) Here is Mr Chocolate Viking Carver himself on his FB page:

His company Fjordnaer does have a good website but you don't get to see the chocolatier himself and it's a shame to miss him!

Thanks for your happy beach photo of yore.

Are they crispy or all chocolate. :)

Hello! I haven't eaten any of them yet so I don't really know. However, they look to me as though they have been poured into a mould so I guess they're solid.

This is the maker's website (in English) but there are no vikings there that I can see!

Anything can be forgiven for chocolate. I think we've all been a little preoccupied lately, so no need for apologies; but the chocolates make the wait all worthwhile.

Hello - how nice to see you! I peek at you occasionally and marvel at your mum, now 103. I have been visiting my former Greek tutor and she is only 93 which is just nothing compared to your excellent mother!

I guess the world can seem fairly dumb sometimes at that age when you have seen so much of the world before - new experiences must be hard to come by? She is lucky to have family near and still her fan club! I recall you made her an amazing birthday cake one year - truly a great feat. I wouldn't know where to start!

Eating them must've been hard, I mean, the conflicting feelings of wanting to eat such wonderfully made chocolate but the sense of loss in knowing that by eating it you'll be destroying those tiny pieces of art.
