Kazuya was stuck. He was in KAT-TUN’s dressing room with his precious niece who was currently amusing herself with Jin’s guitar. Maybe he should move her away from it before she broke it; on the other hand it would fill Kazuya with childish glee to annoy Jin in such a way. He shook his head before making his way over to the little girl and scooping her up in his arms. She squealed in frustration, flailing her little arms and trying to reach out for the antique instrument. Kazuya remembered when Jin brought it here and was fangasming all over it with Tatsuya. He rolled his eyes at the memory, the only time the older man spoke to any of them was when he wanted to show off.
“Meiko, you can’t play with that okay? It’s not a toy” She puffed out her cheeks and Kazuya chuckled at how cute she was. He gently sat down on the sofa and let his niece play with his necklace. The necklace Jin gave him before the other suddenly decided he was too cool to hang out with a skinny brat.
His older brother had suddenly rushed into his apartment earlier this morning explaining that Kayako was in labour and that Kazuya had to look after Meiko. And so he was stuck babysitting whilst on a full schedule. The staff really wouldn’t like it if a little girl was there to mess things up and distract them. If he could he would have taken a sick day but Kazuya was better than that. He would find someone to mind her whilst he was working. Not everyone in the Jimusho was working surely. If all else fails he could ask the juniors to watch her...or maybe not.
“Urgh Meiko why couldn’t your mama hold on for a little bit longer?” He made a face at the little girl who squealed in delight and abandoned the necklace to play with his face. Pulling his cheeks and nose she was completely absorbed in her play that she didn’t notice the door opening. Kazuya however trained his eyes on the man who just entered. He really wanted to scream in frustration. Standing at the doorway completely astonished was the man Kazuya definitely didn’t want to be alone with.
“Uh morning” Jin recovered quickly and flopped down onto the chair furthest from Kazuya. Kazuya was glad for it. Meiko still hadn’t notice the other man and had now moved on to play with Kazuya’s hair. Jin was inspecting his guitar and Kazuya held his breath, waiting for the accusations and fighting.
“Oi did you mess around my guitar?” Jin was looking at him without something akin to disgust and Kazuya held back the insult. He raised an eyebrow instead and kept a calm composure, something he was best at.
“No why would I?” He gave Jin a look he knew the other hated. It made the other man feel small and stupid and Kazuya loved to abuse that fact. Jin glared at him but kept his mouth shut, obviously not wanting to fight in front of Meiko.
“Kazu-ji~~~” Kazuya’s attention was onto Meiko who was grinning widely at Kazuya. He smiled back and pulled a funny face which resulted in Meiko squealing in delight.
“Ka~ame” Kazuya looked up to the source of the voice and grinned. Koki threw himself onto the space beside the uncle and niece and immediately pulled Meiko into his lap. At first the little girl was confused about the change but soon started playing with Koki’s huge necklace.
“I take it Kayako is in labour then” Kazuya hummed in agreement before resting his head on Koki’s shoulder. He only had the girl for a few hours but already he was exhausted. He could feel Jin glaring at him but he ignored it in favour of snuggling closer to Koki.
“What’s this? Kame and Koki have finally come out and adopted a child? Congratulations” Nakamaru threw his bag carelessly into the corner and sat on the other side of Koki. Both Koki and Kame grinned at the statement and started making kissy faces at each other which made Nakamaru laugh. In the corner Jin was silently fuming at being ignored, it was normal for Koki to ignore him but not Nakamaru.
“So why is your niece here?” Kazuya was about to explain when the door burst open to an angry Tatsuya. He launched his bag at Nakamaru’s bag and the oldest man flinched when it impacted. Meiko watched transfixed as Tatsuya ripped a magazine from its place on the chair, dumping the paper on the floor and slumping down onto the chair. He took out his iPod and roughly stuck the earplugs in his ears so hard even Kazuya winced. Both Kame and Koki exchanged looks as everyone in the dressing room knew the reason for Tatsuya’s sudden anger, someone was obviously sexually deprived.
“Kazu-ji” Kazuya looked at his niece in alarm, her voice was wavering and her eyes were welling up with tears. He inwardly groaned when he realised she was going to cry. Again. Apparently being woken up at 5am isn’t good for a child, not that it’s particularly good for him either. Especially when he finished work at 2am.
The room was instantly filled with the wails of Meiko as she rubbed her eyes and kept pushing Koki away. Kazuya sighed and carefully lifted up his precious niece, he bounced her up and down slightly. The door opened again and soon enough Koki and Nakamaru were ushered out as their manager called for them to go over some duet or something. Tatsuya followed them out with a glare at Kazuya who failed to quieten the sobbing girl.
Eventually Jin got sick of the increasingly loud wails and heaved a great sigh before making his way toward the Kamenashi pair and taking Meiko from Kazuya’s arms. Kazuya looked at his bandmate in alarm but Meiko instantly quietened down as she looking at the new man through teary eyes. Jin faced the girl with a blank face.
“Shut up, you’re too loud” Kazuya looked ready to kill the older man as Meiko began crying with renewed vigour. He smacked the back of Jin’s head and took his niece from the older brat.
“You idiot, now look what you did! Can’t you do anything right?” Kazuya moved over to his bag and ruffled through it until he found a bright pink pacifier. He gave the pacifier to his niece who instantly quietened down. She laid her head on Kazuya’s shoulder and hid her face in the crook of his neck. Kazuya smiled at the cute action before settling down on the sofa and helping Meiko get into a more comfortable position.
Jin looked at the pair, he noticed how exhausted Kazuya looked and how prominent his eye bags were. No matter how much make up the younger put on he couldn’t disguise those monsters and Jin winced slightly when he realised he really wasn’t helping the other’s situation. Another knock at the door signalled the arrival of Kazuya’s manager.
Kazuya was at a complete loss as to what he should do. He knew he had to work but he couldn’t take Meiko with him, however he also didn’t have anyone to babysit her. Just as he was about to request another hour or so Jin placed a hand on his head. Kazuya looked up at the man is surprise; the older man was blushing and looked incredibly unsure and awkward.
“You go, I’ll take care of her” Kazuya was so shocked by the uncharacteristic behaviour that he didn’t remember agreeing or being ushered out of the door by his manager. In fact he only really came to his sense when he was already locked in the meeting being grilled about his new solo. He could only hope that Jin was capable enough to properly look after his niece for a few hours.
Meanwhile Jin was beginning to regret his oh so kind act when the sleepy girl began glaring at him and pulling his cheeks painfully. Nevertheless Jin didn’t have any meetings due today and he only came in to write some new songs so it wouldn’t be too bothersome to look after the little girl. Besides Jin loved kids and kids loved Jin. Even if she was from the same strain as Kazuya she surely couldn’t be as uptight and anal as him.
It got much easier when the girl, exhausted from all the crying, fell asleep and Jin could leave her to write some new lyrics. Although it wasn’t perfect because he couldn’t play his guitar it would have to do until he was completely free. Even when she woke up she wasn’t a nuisance, in fact Jin thought it was cute how she was watching him so intently and asking him about his song.
He pulled out a few pieces of paper and some pens for her, from his own personal stash, and left her to whatever she wanted to do. However it was only a few minutes before he got curious and asked her what she was doing. She pursed her lips and said “I’m writing a song like Jinjin”. Right then Jin wanted to melt into a puddle of goo because the girl was just too precious.
Kazuya came back a few hours later to a peacefully quiet dressing room. Both Jin and Meiko were burying their noses in notebooks, their brows furrowed in concentration and their tongues stuck out as they tried to think. Kazuya chuckled at the sight which made Jin look up, their eyes met and neither could break the gaze. Eventually Jin gave an awkward smile and shifted slightly on the sofa to give Kazuya.
“What’s she doing?” Kazuya walked over to the sofa and made himself comfortable next to Jin. He was still pretty sure it was all a dream because he had barely even said one word to Jin outside concert planning or scripts and this moment was just too weird to comprehend. Jin looked at the girl with a warm smile before answering.
“She’s writing a song” Another chuckle escaped Kazuya’s lips but he was instantly silenced as Meiko shushed them both before turning back to her masterpiece. Both men could barely stifle their laughter at the cute sight. They were both interrupted by Kazuya’s loud yawn. Jin sighed in sympathy, he bit at his already chapped lips before swallowing his fears and pulling out a blanket the group kept for lunchtime naps.
“You can sleep with me if you like” Both men stared at each other in complete horror. Jin quickly realised what he said and hurried to correct his mistake.
“I meant on, err I mean like on my shoulder I mean I know it’s not the most comfortable but uh well it won’t alarm Meiko so much and -” Jin kept on rambling, his face was bright red. He also missed the soft look Kazuya was directing at him.
“Thank you” Kazuya’s voice was soft and quiet but Jin still managed to hear it. Both men were blushing and Kazuya took the blanket before shuffling closer to Jin and resting his head on the older man’s shoulder. They hadn’t done this in so long; well they hadn’t been nice to each other at all in so long that it was a shock to both of them.
Junno walked into the agency, a little late but not too late. He had a wide grin on his face as he strolled through the halls, giving his juniors and colleagues a polite nod and smile. When he opened the door he froze in his place however. He was greeted with the sight of Kazuya desperately trying to pick up bits of wood whilst a small girl was sulking in the corner. Jin was sleeping soundly on the couch however, obviously being a heavy sleeper meant he slept through whatever mess happened.
“Kame, what -?” Kazuya shushed Junno and quickly ushered him out of the room. When they were out in the corridor the youngest member turned on his puppy dog eyes which made Junno melt instantly.
“We fell asleep and Meiko must have been playing with the guitar, because now it’s in pieces and I really don’t know what to do because he’s going to kill me or Meiko, probably me, oh Junno what do I do?” Junno stared at his so called leader in confusion; he barely understood what Kazuya said though he guessed it had something to do with the now shattered priceless guitar. Before he could offer support however a loud screech interrupted them.
“KAMENASHI WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?” Both men stiffened at the furious voice of Jin. The door was ripped open to reveal the beast himself; Kazuya could see Meiko in the background. Looking at Jin with wide eyes and in complete fascination. Kazuya took a deep breath before pointing at Junno.
“Junno did it, I was just taking him out here to give him into trouble” Junno gaped at the youngest band member before screeching when Jin wrapped his hands around the tall man’s neck. Kazuya slipped past the two to gather Meiko’s belongings and pick up his niece. He rushed past them on the way out, silently apologising to Junno as he saw Jin bring the other into a headlock.
