Personality:
Sonic has been described as being free as the wind. He's a determined kid, loving freedom and hating captivity. He's a true optimist, always believing that good will triumph. He's a friend to his allies, and a force to be reckoned with for his enemies. Despite this, though, he's got a short temper, and when things are going slowly, he tends to get really angry. He's often pretty goofy and fun-loving, even during battles with his enemies, which he often spends goading them on, mocking them and teasing. He's a real big show-off who doesn't waste any time showing off his moves to anyone who'll look, but as a world-renowned hero, he'll always pull through for the side of good. When things get more serious, and Sonic's friends are brought into the mix, the teen loses the goofy face and becomes quite serious. He'll be focused, stern and will do no matter what it takes to do what he needs to. He's an infinitely good person who would rather have a good time and run free than be sad and stagnant.
To really understand Sonic's personality, it's best to see how he acts when around his friends and enemies. First off, we have his best friend in the entire world, Miles "Tails" Prower. The two met early on and have been inseparable ever since. Sonic took Tails under his wing as a little brother, and thinks pretty highly of the little kid. Still, he likes to show off in front of his pal, often bragging about how he's trashed Eggman's robots for the umpteenth time, and always expecting some form of praise from the two-tailed fox in return. However, when things get tough, Sonic is always there to help his buddy, and as of Sonic Adventure 2, he's even relied in Tails heavily, saying that he was 'counting on him', showing that even Sonic will give up the spot light if it means he can help his friends in some way.
Next, there's Knuckles the Echidna. Knuckles and Sonic have had a long history of bickering and fighting with one another, but deep down, Sonic considers Knuckles one of his best friends. He often teases the other, joking about how gullible he is, making him do things for Sonic (i.e. finding keys to Eggman's base in SA2), and often bribes Knuckles into things by stroking the echidna's ego. This means Sonic can be a pretty tricky teen, using any means necessary to get what he wants, often times, but not in a villainous way. More often than not, Sonic plays childish jokes on people, and he'd never dream of telling a lie that could outright hurt a person. When it comes to getting Knuckles worked up into wanting to fight, Sonic sure doesn't turn it down! He loves sparring with his friends, and often bothers Knuckles into fighting him just for that purpose alone!
Amy Rose is Sonic's self-decided girlfriend. She's always telling everyone that she and Sonic will be married someday and have x-number of children. For Sonic? He denies it all and pretty much runs the hell away every time she comes near him. She is one of his friends, but as soon as she gets mushy around him, he spazzes and gets out. For him, clingy girls have cooties. Despite all this, when Amy is in danger (which is a lot), Sonic always comes to her rescue, which only makes Amy believe all the more that they are destined for one another. For Sonic, however? Love's gross!
Dr Eggman is Sonic's one true enemy, and he's been foiling this guy's plans for years and years (though he's somehow remained 15 all this time...) Even though Dr Eggman possesses an IQ of 300, Sonic always manages to defeat his plans, but he'd never go as far as to kill him. As of late, the two end up working together in order to end some sort of crisis at hand, which often comes about when Eggman gets way in over his head. Sonic interacts with the old doctor as a stereotypical teen interacts with a high school professor. He's rude, he mocks the guy, and destroys his robots just for kicks. Sonic has often thought that if Eggman wasn't around, life would be awfully boring and he'd have nothing to do! So despite how angry he gets with the mad scientist, he'd never wish that Eggman would die, unlike how Eggman often wishes Sonic's fate to be.
In Sonic Adventure 2, the true blue hero encounters a new enemy; Shadow the Hedgehog. At their first meeting, Sonic realizes that the military is hunting our hero down because they've mistaken him for Shadow, who was causing trouble all over Station Square. He immediately begins calling Shadow "Faker" and always challenges him to a fight whenever they meet. Sonic, who had previously been seen as the fastest thing to ever exist, felt like his pride was being injured by Shadow being around, as the other hedgehog also possessed super speed and continued to mock Sonic of being 'inferior' to him. When they battle for the final time, Sonic appears a bit more amiable to Shadow, telling him that Shadow had indirectly saved him from certain death by showing him how to use Chaos Control. In return, Shadow also respects Sonic a little more than before, becoming all the more curious about the blue hedgehog and what he could truly be. Sonic replies as vaguely as usual, stating "What you see is what you get, I'm just a guy that loves adventure; I'm Sonic the Hedgehog!" While Shadow has much hatred and sorrow for the things of his past, Sonic is well known for having no regrets and holding no grudges (to a point), always looking forward and never turning back.

Abilities: Super sonic speed! Sonic can run at the speed of sound, as well as transform into the being known as Super Sonic when he fuses with the 7 Chaos Emeralds. Sonic can also run across lines of rings when they are all in a row, and he's quite strong for a 15 year old. However, he CAN'T SWIM, so this is his greatest weakness! Sonic can breathe in space for some unknown reason, however. Sonic also wears SOAP Grinder shoes which allow him to grind rails easily.
As a hedgehog, Sonic was able to perform the HOMING ATTACK, jump really high, as well as roll into a ball and perform the spin dash- But this is pretty much close to impossible as a human.
Items/Weapons: He also has a walkie talkie and the Flame Ring, which he wears on his left wrist like a bracelet. In the game, it allows him to use somersaults which shield him in fire. Along with that, he's also got his pair of SOAP Grinder shoes.
