I'm home!

So what's the first thing one does? Read the new FMA chapter because omg!

RIZA HAWKEYE IS ALIVE!

Sure, Roy is currently in... a huge mess and potentially getting killed. I wouldn't be surprised if he does end up dead, but somehow it's better for him to die than for Hawkeye to. I'm not sure why, but there it is. I'm glad how far the character has come. And how much frigging emotion is he showing these days? *points at icon* We've never seen Roy hold on to anyone like that. Yes, he goes over the edge more than a few times. He crosses the lines more than once in order to protect. We've never seen him go that far, though. The way he clings to Riza? Wow. Just wow. I am filled with shipper glee.

Yes, he'd lose himself to revenge Hughes. But this? He holds back for her. That's something else entirely, seeing him wanting to lose it all and then holding on. He's so close, but he holds himself together for her. Even if it means he might lose her, which is seriously the worst thing that could happen to him. Riza Hawkeye is his touchstone and as much as all else matters, she holds him together.

I love this scene so much, to see Roy so utterly vulnerable. It feels like such a contrast against the killing spree he went on when he realised that Envy killed Hughes. He was ready to turn against everyone, but Ed and Riza called him back. It was the thought of Riza hurting herself over him that pulled him back. And now... Now he's utterly lost and he wants to keep her, but she's the one forbidding him to do something so stupid and as much as it kills him, he listens. But then he's just so so so desperate and vulnerable. Seriously, I've never seen Roy hold on to anyone like that. It's just... wow. And god, Riza's answer that she can't die as she was ordered not to. Man, I love these two.

And yeah, so now the odds have turned and at this point it's more likely that Roy is going to be the one to die. Somehow I can deal with that better. Which is weird, he's my favourite character, but his death would upset me less than Riza's. Maybe because that's how he sees it too. But I'm holding on to the thought that Arakawa is awesome and she wants Roy and Riza to have a sort of happily after. Maybe. Please?

Damn, I love this series.
