Well, we squeezed out as much warm air and sunshine as we could this summer, but as soon as the long weekend came around, the temperatures nosedived from 25C to 9C. If the long-term weather report is in any way accurate, it'll be below average for the next fourteen days, and by below average, I mean, below 20C.

Your pepper chutney (you say jelly, I say chutney) was wonderful! I remember receivng a gift of it and just treasuring every last drop! I so need to learn how to can; the flavors and treasures that people are able to create are amazing!

Canning isn't very complicated once you remember a couple of rules -- high sugar stuff will keep, high acid stuff will keep, stuff in between won't keep and needs longer processing, etc.

I haven't done it in so long, I am probably remembering wrong, though!

It isn't quite too late for this year! Just too late for some things. :) Says the girl just getting started on her canning.

But, if you want, next year I'll start poking you around the first week of August. :D

FYI: Today is my niece's first birthday, but when we get home from that this evening, I already have those chapters loaded and ready to read. If not for things like last minute jam, I'd already have them read.

Bah, the next month will squeeze me dry in terms of finding free time, so I'll have to postpone canning for another year... again.

But yes, a kick in the butt next August would be useful!!

I hope your niece has a very happy first birthday!
