Pie Night!

 So tonight is pie night!  My parents and I always have pie night the night before Thanksgiving.  Since I have to work Friday, we are having Thanksgiving tomorrow night (Wednesday), which makes tonight..........pie night!  My mom and I made the pumpkin pies and my dad makes mincemeat, which yes, it actually has meat in it.  The real way.  Not just

Sounds like a blast! That reminds me of the time my dad, a friend of ours and I got good and sloshed on Kirschwasser while making cheese fondue on Christmas Eve- our family tradition.

Pie! When I started reading this entry I thought you were my other friends from santa cruz because historically thanksgiving has been a Pie party where everyone brings different kinds of pie, in fact all the food is pie, from shepherd's pie to pot pie to dessert pies. One year--last year I think?--I made a mincemeat pie. Interesting because I'd never had mincemeat pie before and didn't like everything in the recipes I saw (like, candied bits?), so I basically created my own recipe. I think it had shredded beef cooked in brandy and broth, with chunks of apples and raisins, maybe cranberries, and it turned out pretty well... Enjoy your thanksgiving!
