Well, I've made my rauschpfeife teaching debut, such as it was. As it turns out, my friend has a rather severe reed issue, and that was what was causing a lot of his intonation issues -- he'll still need a lot of practice with a tuner, but the first thing he needs is a reed that doesn't cause *my* instrument to go out of tune as soon as we try ( Read more... )

LOL I didn't think you were throwing stones. I read it as a good teacher teaching skills we should all employ!
Except when you can't find yours because your 2 year old shoved into the keyboard of the piano and then your piano tuner teaches you how to take it apart on the phone while laughing. mwahahaha
Not that I know how that works or anything.

edit: maybe make your own reeds?

Hey, that's one way of tuning the piano! :D

Yeah, I really should learn how to make my own reeds -- there's someone local who'd likely be willing to teach me. I just fear trying to do fiddly detail work with sharp blades, because I've met me before. :)

Your range of skills/talents is dauntingly impressive! I can bring the pair to Pennsic and show them to you; if you think the holey one is fixable, great, if not I'll... uh... hop on one foot? :)
