2 layers of stuff on toast...? wow. closest i get to that is when i make what i call "sugartoast".... i invented it myself! :D lol
get the butter out ahead of time and already have some on the knife before putting the bread in the toaster. put the bread in the toaster and as soon as it comes out, take it and spread the butter (if the toast is hot enough the butter should start melting right away). sprinkle sugar onto the toast to taste and voila! still somewhat hotish sugartoast. ^_^ if the toast isn't hot enough to melt the butter i might stick it into the microwave for 10s like u did, but then that tends to take away some of the crispness from the toaster, so i try to avoid it if i can.

Well, two layers as in one layer of butter then one layer of Marmite... it's a bit weird without the butter, so you kind of have to do it. It's awkward. ;_; Maybe I should ask my mum.
But ooh, that sounds interesting. How much sugar do you put on? *might try it next time he feels like toast*
