Favorite Things - #3, #4 & #5

#3 I think it should be obvious, by now, but Star Wars is a favorite thing of mine. It's literally the first movie I ever saw. It was released in 1977, and I got to see it in utero. When they rereleased it at Christmas time, my brother dragged my mother to the theatre at least twenty times, making my older sister and me, the infant baby, go along ( Read more... )

I grew up with "Star Wars" too. I honestly can't remember the first time I saw the trilogy - it's like it's always been part of me. It still seems so weird to me that I have friends who don't know the original trilogy as well as I do.

Someone at work admitted they'd never seen any of the movies. How do you reach 35 and not see them?! How do you get teh pop culture jokes?!

It's just absolutely mindboggling to me.

I remember once in college, a few of us tried to watch the trilogy (the original, since this was only 1999 or 2000) with a friend who'd never seen it before. She didn't get it at all, which was so disheartening.

Ton/Face OTP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! I LOVE THEM! I do love the Zahn trilogy, and the Han Solo trilogy, but the Rogue and Wraith Squadron series are by far my absolute favorite!! In fact, I may have to re-read them now because it's been far too long. Wedge rocks so hard, and I love Wes, too!

God yes. They really, really are. The whole river scene chokes me up just to think about.

I'm due for a re-read too. Let's do it together!

I started reading book 1 (Rogue Squadron) and OMG! THE EPITHETS ARE KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy shit! Clearly it's been a long time since I've read them. I was SO tempted to get out my red pen or find an editable, digital copy. I still love the story, but man, the writing is shitty!

Oh my gosh, the Han Solo trilogy is my FAVORITE. Paradise Snare most of all. My copy is freaking tattered from how much I have loved on it. And the X-Wing series is my sister's favorite! So you are now officially welcome to any and all of our family gatherings, just so you know. :)

I am loving this meme-- it's fun to see it on my flist and YAY for hearing more from you. Can't wait for housey/movey stuffs as well.

:D Awesome! I will show up and be the creepster hanging out in the corner :P

<3 I'm glad to have internet again and free time. I've been baking and cooking and experimenting and painting and all sorts of things. :D

Have a post slowly getting put together. There's been a bunch of stuff. How's things with you?

Haha, the creepster gushing about geekiness with us in the corner, you mean? Then, yes!

I've been working a lot and planning a wedding for October, so less free time than I might like! But it's been very good. This weekend I got a break so Smallville Season 10 marathon (all 22 episodes) starts tonight with my sister, so I'm pretty darn excited. She bailed on me for Avengers (promised to go see it with another friend in two weeks with a full Marvel film marathon beforehand) so I'm going to see it with my dad on Sunday instead. So a geeky weekend! It's going to be super.

I saw it as an 8 year old, and I tell you, my older brother and I also bonded (& still do!) over the love of sci-fi and epic tales of heroism.

My little bro, not so much with the sci-fi/heroic adventures. *sad face*
