Bike and Hike

I went on a ride today. I went out to the volcanoes and then hiked to the top of the closest one. It reminded me of how small I am, and yet of how out of shape I've become. When I got to the top of the volcano, though, the grunting and sweating and stuff was worth it. There was a cool breeze at the top. I could hear the hiss of the wind ( Read more... )

one of the vents, has a lichen that can only grow because there is still trapped latent heat and moisture bubbling up from the mantel

You are so very poetic. Glad you got out to do such a beautiful trip. Thanks for sharing the pix on flickr--I looked at them a bit ago and am very envious of the beautiful view you had.

Also, if you look at the picture of the trail going down.....and look very closely at the parking lot at the center of the photo, you can see my motorcycle.
