i have painters block. i tried to paint yesterday, but everything seems so flat. i'm afraid to finish the 2 saints i have in progress right now, since i've switched oil mediums (to walnut oil) and it tends to be runnier. plus, i've already laid the paint on pretty thick so i wonder if the top layers will crack? i have always liked that look and

I wouldn't worry about a lul in your inspiration. People of every profession experience that. I wanted to quit school for about 2 days last week. Things ebb and flow.
Also I'm glad you are mentoring a nice kid this time.

(always go to tv.com when it comes to tv shows!) I guess i learned one good piece of advice from work!
think about all you've learned in your drawing class & how it's helped your painting! don't get frustrated poon- and don't feel a need to rush something! If all else fails- paint your entire canvas black (or white) and start over! Is it that you feel you HAVE to finish it? Does the subject matter still interest you? Can you do any mixed media with it?
perhaps you might need to find a place in your house that's cat free? or look for a studio to rent? or maybe you can distract yourself with another art medium that is cat repellent! (if only you could paint using a vaccuum---that would make them back off!)
