Kaidoh stretched, readying his body, wanting to complete his morning exercises with enough time to go to the courts before school. Inui had set his training program to run only half an hour in the mornings, but Kaidoh made sure that he always ran at least forty-five - half an hour didn't seem long enough.

Standing, he checked his watch. He had plenty of time. Bowing his head, he began to jog, building up rhythm as he went.

The streets were emptier this time of day, when morning alarms hadn't yet sounded, deliveries to grocery stores were still being made, and the sun was more orange than its usual bright yellow. His footsteps sounded softly on the ground as he sped up, his breathing growing more audible.

It wasn't till at least ten seconds had passed before he realised that someone was running behind him, purposefully catching up to his pace. He ignored it - probably just Echizen, he thought, increasing his efforts just a little more. He ran one, two - almost three blocks before the steps were right behind him. He prepared to glare; as soon as he saw who it was, he blinked, nearly stumbling over a crack in the ground.

"F-Fuji senpai," he said in breathy surprise, trying to recover from his almost-fall.

"Morning, Kaidoh," said Fuji with a smile. He didn't slow his pace, nor did he seem particularly strained when Kaidoh kept at his normal pace. "Do you always run here?" he asked as they turned a corner.

If he hadn't been running, Kaidoh would have shrugged. "I try to run where there are steep inclines," he answered plainly as they began their descent down a small hill.

They continued in silence, not stopping. Normally, Kaidoh's morning routine seemed to take no time at all; but running next to Fuji - seeing the easy smile and not wanting to show-up his senpai - made ten minutes seem to take forever. Plus Fuji kept close when he ran, not enough to cause Kaidoh to fall or veer off course, but enough for Kaidoh to feel Fuji's body sweating, skin hot with exertion.

Fuji slowed; and so did Kaidoh. They stared over the gorge that led the way towards Seigaku. Fuji appeared to be in thought, quiet except for the rise and fall of his chest that showed he had just been exercising. They were only about two-thirds of the way around - if Kaidoh didn't leave soon, there's no way he would make it to the courts for extra practice.

"Huh?" Kaidoh blinked as Fuji stepped closer to him, placing one hand on his arm, smiling at him and indicating the sun with a nod of his head.

"The sun," said Fuji.

"Ah." Kaidoh looked ahead of him, unsure what it was about the sun he was supposed to notice. It had mostly risen - they had missed the change from dark red sky to bright blue. There was only a residual light orange on the horizon, which seemed fairly unremarkable to Kaidoh. Not sure what else to do, he stood, wondering if Fuji really meant to keep holding his arm like that or if he planned to let go any time soon. It was hard to tell what Fuji was thinking.

Fuji looked at him. "Hn. To you it probably looks uninteresting. Am I right?"

Kaidoh blushed. He hadn't meant to be inadvertently rude. "It looks fine." He avoided Fuji's eyes.

The hand on his arm slid higher, settling against the soft skin at his shoulders. Fuji moved closer, behind Kaidoh, whispering into his ear. "It's good, sometimes," he said, "to notice things in all their states. To see the beauty not just at its peak, but all the time. Ne?"

Kaidoh nodded, trying to figure out what Fuji meant. The wind blew and Kaidoh welcomed it, feeling strangely warm. His eyes widened when he realised Fuji was standing just a little bit closer, one hand still on Kaidoh's shoulder and the other pressed to the middle of his back. Fuji's touch was gentle, as if he were trying to comfort or perhaps encourage Kaidoh.

"I like watching you play, Kaidoh," Fuji murmured, his voice getting even harder to hear - so much so that Kaidoh leaned back to make sure he wasn't imagining the words. Fuji's lips brushed against his ears - accidentally or not, Kaidoh couldn't tell - and his stomach pulled tight in response, though he remained still. "You're at your best on the tennis courts, competing against others," continued Fuji. The hand on Kaidoh's back slid down a little. "But I like watching you all the time."

Kaidoh made a questioning noise in the back of his throat, his mouth not yet cooperating enough to speak aloud. The hand that had been at his back was at his hip, fingers sliding just beneath the hem of his shirt, rubbing twice - gently - before urging Kaidoh's body back a little bit more.

When he could feel Fuji's chest, pressed full against his back, bodies aligned, he gasped. "Like the sun?" he managed to ask through strained lips and a heavy tongue.

"Mm," said Fuji, breathing out against Kaidoh's neck, leaving a soft, wet kiss at the spot just below his ear.

Kaidoh's heart pounded almost as much as it had when they'd been running, body flushed and uncertain, not used to this sort of touch. From anyone. It felt...warm. Thrilling.

...thrilling.

"Fuji-senpai."

Fuji's arm slid around his waist, fingers splayed against his stomach, beneath the black shirt he wore. Kaidoh wanted to look, to make sure no one was watching - yet he was too afraid of breaking contact. Whether it was because he was afraid of what Fuji had planned...or if it was because he wanted to feel what Fuji had planned, he wasn't sure. So he stood.

"Why are you - "

Kaidoh's words were cut off when Fuji's hand began to rub downward from his stomach, sliding against the hardening length beneath his fingers. The intimate closeness was more than Kaidoh had had before - and there was something about the fact that it was Fuji, calm and silent, which made the vibrations of blood pulsing through his veins seem loud; which made his whole body feel restrained.

Trying not to bite into his lip, Kaidoh closed his eyes and leaned back, Fuji's lips skimming along the ridge of his neck and jaw, kissing and biting, tongue sliding out to the curve of Kaidoh's ear, teasing. Fingers tugged at the elastic on Kaidoh's running shorts then skimmed beneath the fabric, finding Kaidoh's cock and wrapping around it. He was fully hard now, his breathing ragged as Fuji's other hand slid down from his shoulder to his waist; then to his stomach. It felt strange, the contrast of wearing clothing when he felt so close to Fuji in the touch of his hands and lips - it felt contained. Kaidoh liked the outward subtlety.

Fuji's hand began to slide along the shaft faster, twisting around the tip every few strokes. He seemed to watch Kaidoh through narrowed eyes, taking in all the different reactions to changes in speed. Kaidoh's knees began to shake.

"Don't think about why," he whispered.

Fuji sped up his motions. Kaidoh's hands clenched and unclenched, having trouble containing the grunts and moans issuing from his mouth. His eyes were closed tight when he came, spilling himself across Fuji's skin, Fuji's fingers.

The sun had fully risen. Kaidoh blinked at it, his blush returning. Fuji slowly pulled back from him, letting Kaidoh turn around to face him; raising one finger to his lips, tasting the thin stream of Kaidoh's come, tongue sliding around the tip of his tongue. He looked at Kaidoh.

Kaidoh stared.

Fuji bent down, wiping his hand on nearby grass. He stood up, smiling. "We should get back, ne? Don't want to be late for class."

"...yeah. R-right."

Fuji started running and Kaidoh, body running automatically in response, followed soon after.

School that day seemed to go a little slower than usual, his mind humming with the experience he'd had with Fuji. It wasn't until practice that he remembered Fuji's words - when blue eyes watched him from across the net, pupils narrowed behind light and friendly blue, waiting for him to serve.
