By a "Transfan"...

Let me be clear.

Transformers is important to me.

I loved it as a kid. I loved it as a teenager. I maintain a sticky and unhealthy relationship with it as an adult.

So I’ve watched the film.

Let be clearer.

I knew that the film would not be true to my childhood.

I knew Michael Bay was directing it. I knew that none of the robots ( Read more... )

Nice review there, old bean. I have to disagree with one point though - Armageddon was absolute gash! Apart from that, spot on. I agree that the robots character did not really come across at all and generally this suffered from the same problems every film in a new franchise has - how to cram in every bit of 'origin' info the public not versed in the back story need but still provide a complete story in and of itself.
My main concern was that the human element of the film would be disappointing and detrimental to my enjoyment of the big robots fighting, but they handled it really well. Couple of prety crappy plot devices(The All Spark's co-ordinates imprinted on a pair of glasses, anyone?), and I balked at the seemingly out of place show and tell/sales pitch but on the whole I liked it.

Roll on the sequel!

BTW you out this Thurs or Fri?

Seriously, watch Armageddon again and I think you'll be surprised at how similar these 2 films are. I can't help but feel that they introduced the "Allspark" instead of the "matrix" to avoind confusing idiots who would then have been expecting Keanu Reaves to appear...

My "Steve Buscemi going space mad" moment in this film was the Sector 7 man who was just stupid in everything he did. A totally top secret organisation in the heart of government smart enough to have harvested the technology from Megatron and the main guy is a total goofball... Didn't sit right with me, buch liek Steve Buscemi firing nails at Bruce Willis... on an asteroid...

Not sure about Thurs or Fri as yet, not been feeling 100% so I may have to take it on a day by day basis!

I will just have to believe you. I am never going to attempt to watch Armageddon again. Ever.

If its on TV and there happens to be a wall with wet paint on it nearby, guess where I'm heading.

Hope to see you out.
