5. I TOOK THIS ON A TUESDAY AFTERNOON

River exhales slowly.

“That was…intense.”  She’s starting to notice that when the Doctor’s talking, when he’s describing the lives of the friends who knew so well he looks just a little less like a dead man walking.

“Well they were never exactly a typical couple.”

“So they got together?”  She ( Read more... )

They end up lounging on Amy’s bed together, Rory sacrificing his knee as a hand rest for Amy’s drying fingers as he reads Brideshead Revisted in a pompous accent.
“‘I expect you would prefer sherry, but, my dear Charles, you are not going to have sherry. Isn’t this a delicious concoction? You don’t like it? Then I will drink it for you!’” Amy’s trying to be annoyed but she’s laughing despite herself.

Thank you so much for this comment. I keep re-reading it because it gives me the happy-smilies so much. :)

Trying to capture the realism in their relationship was probably the most important thing to me writing this, because I think it would be so easy to romanticise them as a couple and whilst the big gestures of waiting for 2000 years and dying for each other are obviously a huge part of who they are together, it's really the little moments that make a relationship. So the fact you think I've pulled that off is just...really good to hear!

(again, pulled it before I saw Leah, haaa)
