Ohhhh, Riverrrrrrrr! First time she says it.
“It’s no use, River. It was all my fault, I killed them. I’m never going to stop feeling guilty because I deserve to feel guilty forever.”
Oh, Doctor. It's not even... when Amy asks him about his people, all he says is "It was a bad day; bad stuff happened." But all of that blame and lingering sense of responsibility still lingers, SO close to the surface. All it takes is the final straw.

Yeah, finding the balance for his emotions is hard. Because whilst Eleven is clearly about a million times less emo than Ten, the fact is he's probably still feeling guilty about it and as you say, it doesn't take much to push him over the edge back into guilt. (Especially when the push is him being responsible for the avoidable deaths of people he loves.)
That's what I think anyway. :)
