Random thoughts about SPN 6x09
* As a long time X-Phile I squeed and grinned seeing the credits. I loved them, really really loved them! Thank you show! Now Sera, bring Sammy back, ok?
* Robert Picardo is awesome. 'Nuff said.
* Dean talking about empathy? Really? It just took his brother to lose his soul to admit that he's a caring person? To bring out this side of him? It's almost as if Dean is forced to be himself, wholly, now that Sam is Samgelus (to quote aislinn_tredor)
* Dean's abduction scene: I kept expecting Mulder and Scully in Fight the Future. Loved how it was shot.
Also, Sam's reaction? The way he ordered the beer? Man, that was cold. Okay, he has no soul. We got it. We got it the minute he didn't hug his brother back. Can we move on?
* Sam and the hippie chick. So after the prostitute here comes the hippie chick? Ok, I guess. Subtle and smooth. Er...but not having a soul means you're a slut? Driven by hormones?
* Dean's reaction: priceless. Hurt and outraged:
*Talking about awkward: the conversation between Samgelus and Dean...Samgelus trying to act as if he cares. Dean needing the shower (and bleach to wash off the hippie chick from his eyes)
*the diner scene: Samgelus? You slut, you! Dean, shut up! You got to sell the whole idea of having a soul, not the other way around!
* "Nipples" Dean vs the fairy FTW
* "I'm not supposed to laugh, right?" that was brilliant!
* I LOL'd during the whole scene with the blond woman. Jensen rocked that scene.
* stuff happens as soon as the brothers separate (will they EVER learn?)
* so the ufo aficionado was Oberon (Robert Picardo) I want him back. Soul is gone but not unreachable. He could snag it from the cage (suspension of disbelief really, really needed here IMHO). Samgelus is all, "fuck you, no! I want to get laid!"
Oberon smirks because he knows he'll be used again. Samgelus pulls a Mulder and makes Oberon count the rock salt (see Bad Blood Mulder vs the vampire and the sunflower seeds)
Dean gets his ass kicked in jail.
* Dean, Sam, beer and the Impala...but Sam refuses the beer:(
* They talked about Oberon's offer, Samg is actually right when he says that nothing good ever comes out of deals (well, duh! about damn time!)
* Dean asks he's having second thoughts about having his soul back and Sam is a lying liar who lies and tells him no.
...sigh, they're gonna break my heart before hiatus, I know.
I liked the episode, it was funny and entertaining. But we're almost halfway season...we need answers. We need things to move along. Please writers, Sera, don't stretch this storyline too long. I'm one of the fans who actually love this storyline. I love the dynamic, I love what the guys are doing with their characters, I love how lost Dean is...I think Jared is doing an excellent job, but this storyline can't be dragged too long. It just can't, not when there are so many filler episodes.
So, hiatus next week...and then Cas is back! They guys will kick some ass, Castiel & Meg...
