In the age of the iPod, what have you all done with your acutal CD's and CD cases? I can't bear the thought of getting rid of them all, and yet, who has room to store them?? I'd never get rid of the actual CD's - because technology fails and I'd die if I lost all my music. However, all the cases just take up so much space. I bought a CD/DVD ( Read more... )

I have all the cases (many with CDs in them, since I hardly ever listen to them) on a bookshelf in my office- it's not the prettiest, but at least they are all in one place and relatively organized.

THis is definitely a dilemma though. It feels like such a waste of space, yet getting rid of them seems wrong too (PLus, I feel like- if I ever wanted to sell the CDs or something, what good would the disc without the case ever be?)

We had all the cases in boxes in the basement in our old house, but no basement = no place to store this stuff anymore. Why oh why does it feel so wrong to throw out the cases? It's not like I'm ever going to look at the liner notes again. Uggh.

I'm all messed up. I have most of my CDs in large books because I was carting them back and forth to work all of the time before the glorious age of the iPod came about. Now those books are... somewhere in the basement, I think. The cases, however, are another story. I have a chunk at home in a CD tower and a chunk in a box under my table here at the office. It's rediculous. What I should do is take the booklets out, pair them with the CDs in the books and chuck the jewel cases.

But part of me just can't...

I had 3 copies of this comment sent to my inbox ... weird.

I think I'm gonna end up holding onto any cases with particular sentimental value (Guster, Jump, ttg, Tori, maybe Ani, the autographed Marcy Playground ...) and pitch the rest. It just feels so wrong though!

You got it three times because I'm an idiot (or anal) and had to fix the tags and so I deleted it twice. Hee hee!

It does feel wrong. I guess I should get passed that too!

mine are in various places. some of the cases only (cd's are in books from college) are in my trunk in the basement.
the rest are split between 2 towers and a few file boxes under my bed.
I love love love the file boxes. mostly b/c I am a slacker and haven't put even 1/5th of my total cd collection in itunes yet. I like having all the stuff.. liner notes etc so I don't think I'd ever toss them.

buy some cd binders to put them in. Then open up all the cd cases and store them and the books in some boxes....then throw out the cases or keep some to fill in with whatever cd(s) you want to cart around as a cd old school style..Face it your never gonna need most of them anyways. this way you keep the cds, books, and inserts and save lots of space.
