I have two programs like that, one called PCI File Recovery and one called WUndelete. I know I downloaded then both free from somewhere ... not sure about the restore question, should be OK since it shouldn't have saved anything new in memory ... maybe.

I'm just a big bundle of helpful today aren't I?!

... but I can't help you with this problem. I would be throwing a tantrum would something like this happen to me.

There must be others around at LJ who are more pc savvy than me and you. Try Wranglers maybe? Although, since it's off-topic, maybe you'll get modded. Worth a try anyway, I should think.

All the best! Hang in there!

You could try searching your C: drive for the file name.... I work the Help Desk and lots of people move files accidentally.... The first step is always to search. It would help to search system/hidden files, just be sure that you only move files that you are sure of....

C'mon, a writer as inventive and capable (THINK of all the characters you juggle in Reconciliation) doesn't need to re-create stuff - just let loose with that imagination of yours. Re-read where you've been - an activity well worth undertaking, believe me, and words will come.

Wandered over from LJ to see what you've been up to ... don't want to presume, but sorry for the troubles described herein. Hope your muse rewards you with a feeling of well-being to counter-balance the angst life has been handing you.

I did the same thing at work several years ago while trying to copy and archive files and not even the MIS guy was able to recover them so I hope you have better luck than I did. First, go with the searching of the C drive as suggested, you may have put the files in a different folder than you thought. Second, if that doesn't yield any results, you might try a GOOGLE search for the programs suggested above. I have a program called 'Recover My Files' on disc, but, I have no idea if it is available for download. Try a GOOGLE search for that as well. Before you download anything however, go over to http://www.cnet.com. Search their utilities and read their ratings and editor's reviews before you choose a product. Thirdly, you could try ans see if Circuit City, Best Buy, Comp USA, or a small techie retail store near you offers a memory/file recovery service - I can't remember. Ooh, I think Best Buy has Geek Squad now, so they should be able to help. Lastly, you could try the Comp Sci ( ... )
