I, to love anime, but I watch the dubs, why? because I do not like reading subtitles. If I knew japanese I'd watch whatever is on and I'm comfortable with, but what becomes extremely annoying is when these "anime" freaks think they are the shit because they don't watch the dubs. Not everyone likes to enjoy a show where they might as well just pick ( Read more... )

You know, I pride myself in knowing where I got everyone's username from, but yours somehow I can't remember. It must've been in someone's journal or in a community. For, that I'm sorry.

Anyhow, I'm not really anyone. Though, a lot of people call me Eve.

Hello random person who added me ^_~

I just wanted to say, even as a fan of subtitled anime, I agree with you. People have different motives for watching a series. For me, I like to learn about the Japanese culture and language, so I prefer subtitles. My boyfriend on the other hand, enjoys the artwork and the animation, and reading subtitles can detract from that. So he watches his series dubbed.

I also agree - who cares if what you like is popular? I was a fan of Bebop, Trigun (which, BTW, if you find Vash too wimpy in the anime, I recommend watching the end of the series and reading the manga. He's much more badass there!) and Kenshin long before they hit American airwaves...And now suddenly it's "uncool" to like them because they're on cartoon network.

If you like it, you like it! Whether you saw it ages before or just recently...there's nothing wrong with liking it!

whats with all the random adding of people to the friends list and not even saying hello? Not cool...Yeah, I'll have to agree with him on that one. With all the controversy over serial adder trolls, to simply add on without at least saying hello makes you look bad, even if such wasn't the intention ( ... )

I never slam anyone. I just think it's crap that some of these people think they are cool because they don't watch dubbed. I perfer dubbed because it's easier for me. I watch subbed as well, when I feel the need, but not most of the time. I would never slam anyone for either one. I'm just sick of people who think they are cool because they don't watch dubbed or any of the popular anime. It's quite frankly annoying.

Yes, I've visited Yokohama, a couple years ago. My step father is Japanese. Though, the language is very hard for me to learn. I'm coming along, slowly.

That's the problem, though. While you don't slam anyone for it, too many people often do. My wife got into a friendship-breaking argument last year with someone over dubs vs. raw. The person in question went so far as to say "if you don't watch anime in the original language, you have no right to call yourself a fan," which I vehemently disagree with.

And I miss living in Japan, personally. Yokohama was a blast, especially Chinatown and Motomachi. ^_^

I agree with that. That's horrible that someone did that. It's rather stupid, if you ask me.

Yeah, chinatown was fun. Though, personally I seemed like some dumb american to them. :p
