Note: I may not have gotten all the lines right so any changes/clarifications are welcome.

At Steve’s house, in the garage:

Steve: [listens to a tape recording his father made, hears a noise, hurriedly puts the microcassette recorder back in a red tool box and closes the box]
Danny: [comes into the garage with his gun pointed at Steve] You! Hands up! Don’t move!
Steve: [pulls his own gun and points it at Danny, yelling] Who are you?
Danny: [yelling] Who are you?
Danny: I am Detective Danny Williams …
Steve: Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett …

[There’s overlapping yelling.]

Danny: Put your weapon down right now …
Steve: … this is my father’s house … no, you put your weapon down.
Steve: Show me your ID!
Danny: Put your weapon … no, you show me your ID right now!

[The yelling stops.]

Steve: I’m not putting my gun down.
Danny: Neither am I.
Steve: Use your free hand, take out your ID.
Danny: Please, after you.
Steve: At the same time?
Danny: At the same time?
Steve: Yeah, at the same time!
Danny: What, like on the count of three?
Steve: Sure, okay, three’s good.
Danny: One … two … three.

[Both reach for their IDs and show them to each other. They drop their guns.]

Danny: Listen, ah, I’m really sorry about your father but you can’t be here right now. This is an active crime scene.
Steve: Doesn’t seem that active.
Danny: I can’t share any information with you.
Steve: Hess wasn’t here alone when my father was murdered. Someone was sitting at the desk in the study. There was a space cleared for a 13-inch laptop and my father hated computers.
Danny: I’m gonna ask you again. You gotta leave.
Steve: You got it.

[Steve takes the red tool box with him.]

Danny: And you can leave the box. That is evidence, you know that.
Steve: I came with this.
Danny: No, you didn’t come with it. I see the dust void it left right here on the counter. What’s in the box? What are you hiding?
Steve: How long have you been with the Honolulu PD?
Danny: None of your business. What are you, Barbara Walters?
Steve: No, it is my business if you’re investigating my father’s death.
Danny: I am and I’d like to get back to that. So the sooner you leave, the sooner I can.
Steve: Anything you say.
Danny: Leave the box or get arrested, alright?
Steve: You gonna call for back up?
Danny: An ambulance.

[Steve puts the tool box down on the hood of the car in the garage.]

Danny: Thank you.
Steve: Don’t thank me yet. [pulls out his cell phone and dials a number]
Danny: What are you doing?
Steve: [on the phone, motions to Danny to wait] Ah, yeah, Governor Jameson please. Tell her it’s Steve McGarrett.
Danny: Oh please.
Governor: Commander … Jameson here [muffled, on speaker]
Danny: You’re kidding me.
Steve: Governor. I’ll take the job. Ah, let’s just say I found something that changed my mind. No, no, no immediately. I’ll transfer into the reserves and I’ll run your task force. [pause] What, right now? Okay. [turns him back on Danny and holds up his right hand] I, Steven J. McGarrett, do solemnly declare on my honor and conscience that I will act at all times to the best of my ability and knowledge in the manner befitting an officer of law. Thank you, Governor.
Steve: [hangs up and picks up the tool box] Now it’s my crime scene.

At Danny’s one room apartment:

Steve: [at the door] Swung by your precinct and spoke to your captain and he said you requested a wire to be put on someone named Fred Doran. Tell me about him. [barges into Danny’s apartment]
Danny: Come in.

[Steve sees a picture of Danny’s daughter on a table.]

Steve: This your kid?
Danny: Yeah, that’s stunning detective work.
Steve: You don’t actually let her stay here with you, do you? [motions to Danny’s messy place]
Danny: What are you, Nanny 911?
Steve: So what do you know about this guy … Doran? [pulls a picture of a suspect from a file and holds up the picture]
Danny: Oh surely you don’t need my help, right? [sits down on a chair]
Steve: Enlighten me.
Danny: He’s a suspected arms dealer. Two years Maui Correctional for weapons possession, he’s currently a person of interest in an unrelated homicide, the weapon was never found.
Steve: So what’s he got to do with my father’s case?
Danny: When I ran a ballistics comparison to the bullet that killed your dad, I got a hit to the Doran investigation. See, I think the first thing that Hess did when he got on the island was hook up with Doran and get a gun.
Steve: And maybe Doran still knows where he is so … let’s go talk to him.

[Steve turns towards the door. Danny stands up.]

Danny: Whoa whoa whoa. Excuse me. Are you suffering from dementia? This is no longer my case.
Steve: Your captain said you transferred in from New Jersey six months ago so your eye’s[?] still fresh.
Danny: You know I appreciate it but my psych eval is not for six weeks.
Steve: Fold out bed, no ring on your finger. You obviously moved her to be close to your daughter. Which means, in between visits, all you got is your job and you take pride in that. That’s what I’m looking for.
Danny: Yeah, but you know what? It’s guys like you that think they know how to do everything better and that only makes my job harder.
Steve: You got no choice, Detective. Governor gave me jurisdiction. I’m making you my partner. We’re gonna get along great.

In the car, on the way to Doran’s place:

[Danny’s cell phone rings with a Psycho ring tone and the display reads ‘Take call from Rachel?’. He puts phone away without answering.]

Steve: Take it your marriage didn’t end too well.
Danny: No. It would have, had my ex not remarried and dragged my daughter into this pineapple-infested hellhole.
Steve: You don’t like the beach?
Danny: I don’t like the beach.
Steve: [looks puzzled] Who doesn’t like the beach?
Danny: I like cities, you know, skyscrapers. No tsunamis, no jellyfish.
Steve: Tell me you can swim.
Danny: Can I swim?
Steve: You don’t know how to swim.
Danny: I know how, I swim. I swim for survival, not for fun.
Steve: Alright.

[Danny’s cell phone rings with the Psycho ring tone again and he answers.]

Danny: Yes, dear. Oh, hey, Monkey. [smiles] No, no, no, I thought you were your Mom. I’m so glad that everybody liked Mr. Hoppy. I’m excited too baby. We’re going to have so much fun this weekend. Hey. Danno loves you. [hangs up]
Steve: Who’s Danno?
Danny: Don’t.
Steve: Hmmm?
Danny: Just. [shakes his head no]
Steve: Okay.
Danny: Thank you.
Steve: Yeah.

At a trailer park where Doran lives:

[Steve gets out of the car.]
Danny: Hey, hey, hey! This guy Doran’s a shooter. We shouldn’t be doing this without back up.
Steve: You are the back up. [shuts door and leaves]
Danny: I’m the back up. I hate him. I hate him so much.

[Both walk towards Doran’s trailer.]
Danny: Hey. Hey, slow down, huh?

[Doran has an argument with his girlfriend. The girlfriend storms outside and Danny grabs her. Doran notices someone’s outside the window. He starts shooting at Danny with a machine gun. Danny gets grazed by a bullet on the arm and falls out a window. Steve ducks below another window.]
Steve: Danny!
Danny: Go go go!

[Steve chases after Doran who escapes through a back window and keeps running. Doran grabs a woman and threatens to kill her if Steve doesn’t put his gun down. Steve outs his hand up, like he's going to drop his gun. Danny comes up from behind and shoots Doran from the back.]

In front of Doran’s trailer, after the shooting:

[Steve goes into the trailer to investigate. He opens a bolted door and finds a Chinese woman tied to a pipe. He talks to her in Chinese and then unties her.]

Steve: Okay, she smuggled in four days ago on a cargo ship from China with her parents and a couple hundred refugees. She gets here, she traded through Doran.
Danny: Excuse me, I’m sorry. This is typically where you would say thank you for saving your life.
Steve: You just shot my only lead.
Danny: Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?
Steve: If these are the same guys that are moving people out of Asia, they could have smuggled Hess into Hawaii.
Danny: You just took a stupid risk. Okay? Understand that. I am not getting myself killed for your vendetta. I have a daughter, okay?
Steve: Yeah, that girl there is someone’s daughter too.
Danny: You don’t get it, you don’t get it. For someone who just lost his father, you’re pretty dense.
Steve: What did you just say? What did you just say to me? What if she was yours, huh? Is there anything you would not do to hunt down the son of a bitch that did that to her and killed her, huh?
Danny: Do not question my resolve. [points his finger in front of Steve’s face]
Steve: I’m warning you, take your finger out of my face.
Danny: Listen to me, you son of a bitch.

[Danny pokes Steve’s chest twice with his finger. Steve grabs Danny’s arm, quickly twists it around and holds Danny down.]

Steve: What did I tell you? I warned you.
Danny: What are you, a ninja? Let go.

[Cops on the scene start to come over to them.]

Steve: In front of all these nice people … it’s fine, go back to work, it’s fine.
Danny: Okay, okay.
Steve: Now you don’t have to like me but right now, there’s no one else to do this job.
Danny: Okay. Let me go.

[Steve lets go and Danny straightens up.]

Steve: Alright, look, we need to find these human traffickers …
Danny: [punches Steve in the face] You’re right. I don’t like you.
Steve: Son of a bitch.

In the car, after leaving the trailer park:

Steve: How’s the arm?
Danny: Let’s just not talk.
Steve: You mean, right now or ever again?
Danny: Just. Both, okay?
Steve: You know, I think, I think I might know why your wife left you.
Danny: Really?
Steve: Yeah, you’re very sensitive.
Danny: I’m sensitive, huh? You think I’m sensitive? [mock laughs]
Steve: Well, a little bit.
Danny: When did you come to the conclusion that I was sensitive, huh? Was it when a bullet was tearing through my flesh? Is that when I seemed sensitive to you? Huh? I am really happy that you are not afraid of anything, okay? I’m glad that you have that GI Joe, thousand yard stare from chasing shoe bombers around the world, okay? But in civilized society, we have rules. Alright? It’s the unspoken glue that separates us from jackals and hyenas, alright?
Steve: Jackals and hyenas.
Danny: Animal planet, whatever, okay? The point is, rule number one: if you get somebody shot, you apologize!
Steve: I’m sorry.
Danny: You don’t wait for a special occasion, okay?
Steve: I’m sorry.
Danny: Like birthdays …
Steve: I’m sorry.
Danny: Frickin’ President’s Day …
Steve: Hey, man, I’m sorry, okay? I said I’m sorry. I’m sincerely sorry. That’s what I was trying to tell you. Last year. When this conversation first started.
Danny: Your apology is noted, acceptance is pending.
Steve: You let me know now.
Danny: Yeah, I’ll let you know.
Steve: Make the next left up here.
Danny: Why?
Steve: I think I know someone who can help us.

At Steve’s house, in the living room:

Danny: [enters, carrying a box] Yo, spoke to Chin. He’s setting up a meet with Sang Min. I got that surveillance equipment you asked for.
Steve: [shows Danny a picture of a suspect on his computer] You recognize this guy?
Danny: No. Who is he?
Steve: Drovan[?] Etienne. His file says he’s worked for the Russians as a computer programmer in SVR. He was here when my father was murdered. I found his palm prints in the study and partial bootprints in here.
Danny: Wait a minute, how do you know the bootprints doesn’t belong to Hess?
Steve: Hess wears a size 11 like me, except double E. The prints I found were smaller. And Hess gets his footwear custom made. Direct injected polyurethane midsole with a natural rubber outsole.
Danny: Oh. Your uh, brain must be a … miserable place. I need a beer.

Outside Steve’s house, by the beach:

Steve: [puts beer down on a chair] You gonna tell me what Danno means?
Danny: [standing and looking out onto the beach, a beer in his hand] Yeah, when you tell me what’s in the box.
Steve: Truth is, I don’t know yet. [puts on a shirt, grabs the beer and sits down] All I know is that my father wanted me to find it. Right now, it’s just a puzzle.
Danny: You know, me and Grace, we like puzzles.
Steve: You’re a good father.
Danny: Yeah, maybe, I don’t know, you know. There’s three ways of looking at it. One, could get myself killed chasing some meth head scumbag and then what kind of father would I be?
Steve: I always looked up to my father for that. You know, the sacrifices he made. I’m sure Grace is going to feel the same way.
Danny: [sits down on chair next to Steve] Yeah, maybe. Either that or she may think I’m just a selfish son of a bitch. You know, the truth is, it’s all I got. I need it. I want to do what I’m good at, I want to be reminded I’m good at what I do. If that means having to put up with your twisted belief that you are never wrong, so be it. [They clink their beer bottles together.]
Steve: So what’s the third?
Danny: Well, even if I tell myself, this isn’t permanent, it’s Grace’s home now. It’s my job to keep it safe.
Steve: [cell phone rings, answers it] Yeah. Alright. Good work. [hangs up]
Danny: What’d you got?
Steve: That was Chin. Sang Min bought the pitch, he meets Kono tomorrow.
Danny: Alright, it’s still no guarantee he’s going to tell us where Hess is.
Steve: He has to. This is the only chance I have of finding the man who killed my father.

In a police car, on the way to a ship to stop Hess:

Danny: [cell phone rings with a Psycho ring tone] Son of a bitch. [answers it] Yeah. Rachel. Rachel, don’t start with me. I left you two messages telling you, you need to pick her up. Don’t tell me you had a change of plans! You send a driver for her half the time anyway. [car speeding up, swerving and screeching] I can’t do that right now, I’m in the middle of something. Please stop for a second. Can you just do me one favor? Just tell Grace. Tell Grace Danno loves her, alright? [hangs up]
[Steve throws him a puzzled look.]
Danny: Okay. Gracie was three, she tried to say my name and all that she could say was Danno. That’s all that came out. Danno. Okay?
Steve: That’s it?
Danny: That’s it. That’s it.
Steve: It’s cute.
Danny: Shut up.
Steve: What, what? Why can’t I say it’s cute?
Danny: Don’t.
Steve: Why?
Danny: Because, because I don’t need you thinking anything about it. It’s between me and my daughter.
Steve: Alright.

[Steve swerves the car and stops in front of a ramp that leads up to a ship.]

Steve: There it is. The Emma Carl[?].
Danny: Taking off. How do you want to do this?
[Steve pulls out his gun and checks the bullets.]
Danny: Right.
Steve: Hold on. [speeds up and drives car onto the ramp]
Danny: Alright. Alright. Alright! [hangs on as the car goes up the ramp and people shoot at them]

On the ship:

Danny: [cuffs a suspect on the ground] Put your hands behind your back. Don’t make shoot you again.
Steve: [on top of a cargo container] Hey, get the Coast Guard to find that body. [Hess fell down into the ocean after Steve fought with him and shot him.]
Danny: What do you want me to do with this one? [holds down the suspect]
Steve: Book ‘em, Danno!
Danny: What’d I tell you about that?
[The suspect on the ground squirms and Danny talks to him.]
Danny: Where are you trying to go? Where, where? Go ahead. Do you want me to shoot you? [Suspect squirms more] Stop, just stop.

At their new headquarters:

Steve: [walks into Danny’s office] Hey. [puts a card on Danny’s desk]
Danny: What, uh, what is this?
Steve: Three nights at the Kahala[?] Hotel. Look, I know you’re going to say no.
Danny: You’re right, I’m going to say no. What is it with you and my living arrangements?
Steve: Grace is coming over this weekend, right?
Danny: Yeah.
Steve: Okay, so I heard this place has a pool, you can swim with the dolphins. Just take it. [turns to leave]
Danny: Hey. Ah, you look uh, you look really bad. [Steve’s arm is in a sling and his face has some cuts and bruises.] Thank you.
Steve: You’re welcome.
