November 23rd - A is for Afghanistan

In each entry, I'll link to a few informational pages on the country.  Today it's National Geographic and Lonely Planet.  Please let me know if there's a more reliable and comprehensive site for country facts.

I found this brief, but encouraging BBC article on a contemporary art competition.

Also, here is a young Hazara blogger who updates regularly.

What is the format for this? I like the idea of posting information on each country/area, but if I'm insanely interested in Turkey should I wait for the Ts or is there a way to organize them with tags? I love the idea of this group - a lot!!

Hi! It's so nice to see people are interested in this. ( :

To answer your question, my plan is to have one country per day, so Turkey wouldn't be for a while. However, I'm thinking I'll add a post encouraging people to comment and continue conversations on countries that are already done, since a day is such a short time. As long as the conversations take place in "comments", then it shouldn't break up the ABC format.

Does that help?

yesss it does! would it be possible to organize them by tags, too, though? Like an "A" tag or something, or maybe in the memories? just so if I'm interested in a certain place I won't have to jump all the way back months to find it.

Good idea. I'll make sure to tag every entry with the letter, the country and the region. For instance, today will be tagged with "a, Andorra, Europe".
