well, i'm not entirely sure either (my brother wrote the lyrics), but here is how i see it:
the whole verse goes together in a lot of ways, so the "happening around the corner again..." goes with the previous line about meek bruises. kind of a "you can find hurt around every corner" type of thing.
and the "i'm a robotic attempt...." line is one of my favorite because of what it implies. it's saying that the person telling this story is a weak-willed person who can be walked over/stepped over. but when read with the rest of the words it becomes clear that, while this may have been who this person was in the past, it's not who they are now.
