Yeah, right...

A cheap trick. Macca wants to show he's "willing to make drastic changes" and "build a new team". I suspect Becks-will-be-back as soon as the more crucial games come by. What does the phrase "the door remains open" bring to you? But anyway, i think he shoulda been dropped long time ago...

Go do some merchandise, squeaky David. I cant believe some ( Read more... )

That sucks. Such a good player and he's dropped like a peice of garbage. If he really had to be kicked, they could have done it in a better way.

I dunno, I just think it was so sudden. Even if he did get warned. Eh, maybe I didn't read the article right.

That just tells us that he's not permanently kicked.

Ughh, he's looking 'toward the future'? He's dropping Beckham because he's 'looking toward the future' and he will 'never close the door'. mmkaay.
Who ends a player's international career like that and says he'll 'never close the door'??

You have to admit that Becks did his best to lead England in WC 06. It's not like he sat back and diddled with the ball once or twice..right? I understand the coach's tactics and like you said, he'll be back for crucial games.

Or maybe David not fighting back for his position is a sign of things. He might decide to concentrate himself club side and...shiny endorsements of course. :P

"Concentrate on club level". I like the phrase. I hear it every time someone is on his way to hanging the boots.

Are we going to witness another Michael Jordan? "Returning" to the big sport 3 maybe 4 times before he eventually realises he's no good anymore?

Ouch. I hope the man has enough sense of his ability to realize what is best for his career now.

Madrid's on a 'we're going to win this one, for real yo' kick and signing peeps like crazy, but man...that club is like a curse. First Figo, then Zizou, then Ronaldo...sometimes I think Real sucks the footie out of it's players. Figo said it best: 'a travelling circus'. And to be honest, Becks was signed largely for his marketing appeal wasn't he?

Or maybe he can have one those Footie Renaissance's and prove the haters wrong. Impossible is nothing, isn't it? :D

This was a surprise. But I've to say objectively speaking, bad decision from Steve McClaren, Beckham is a good player. Obviously this could be a tactic, mehe, I'm not sure, not really knowledgable about football politics and all.

Maybe it can also be because of his age?
I personally could care less about them dropping him because it give Michael Owen to get a tad bit more spotlight now.

Well, if you're going by that theory, McClaren could have waited to drop Becks since Michael Owen is unfortunately out for a very long time with his knee injury. =S
