Ok, this is a really random question and you can delete this post if it's not supposed to be in this community, but...I wanted to ask why Totti was sucking his thumb after the match against Australia in last years world cup.
Does anyone remember? Here's a pic just to jog your memory:

lol! trust me, if it was keeping me up all night I would have asked within the first week...
I just remember at the time I'd heard alot of people saying he was trying to indirectly insult the Australian team, but no on knew exactly what it meant so I figure'd I'd ask. You know those rainly days where you just think of absolutely random stuff?
If you'll talk to lots of Australian people (like myself) you'll find they still haven't entirely gotten over that cruel match where we were unfairly chucked out of the game and it's the one match we'll remember from the cup.

As a soccer fan (from the US), that was a painful match to watch. Your team SO deserved to win that match, they played brilliantly the whole tournament, and were the funnest team to watch. I was bummed when they "lost".

Thanks for sharing your random thoughts, it's nice to think back on the World Cup, since the next one is so damn far away still.

someone who understands!
Yeah, everyone was in shock at how that match ended, it was really sad for us because it was the first time we'd been in the cup in ages and I think we had the potential to go very far this time, the team has come a long way and they've worked really hard. I wouldn't have been as angry about it if Italy had won fair and square, I'd still be upset, but I'd be able to accept it. But Lucas Neil soooo did not commit a foul! I can't get over how unfair it all was!
It was good b/c it showed the european countries that other countries can play soccer too and go far but I guess favouritism still won in the end, the referee was obviously biased towards the italian side.
Guess we just have to wait for the next one...hopefully the US and Aus will show them what they can do next time round...

It's his trademark celebration, I think he does it after every goal he scores as a tribute to his daughter.

a lot of players after they've had children will suck their thumb after a goal. Raul kisses his wedding ring. my favorite was Gilardino. whenever he scored he'd "play" a violin. it was awesome.

I agree. I don't really like him, I just wanted to know if he was inulting the aussie team...which apparently he was not from reading everyone's comments...
