so i woke up late on friday morning and rolled out of bed to go to humanities, where they sent me home because class had been dismissed. sweet. so i ran some errands and then came back home for lunch. i spent a lot of that afternoon running around my house in my underwear singing off-key while i got ready. it was pretty awesome.
at 2:30 ryan picked me up, (he looked positively grand in the tailcoat, to be british for a moment). we drove to shaws to walk in fully dressed in prom attire and buy the boutonierre (sp?) and corsage. we pinned them in front of a fire escape door while a random woman took pictures. from there we went to rachel's for hours d'ourves and group shots.
for my own records:
EB and Ben Landis
Ben Wolf and Sam
Rachel and Ryan Taylor
Sarah S and Josh
Sarah F and Greg
Anne and Jeff
Courtney and Matt P
Nicole and Chuck
Heather and Tom
Carrie and Billy
then prom. grand march was two or three loops around the parkinglot in gorgous weather. my dad and sister videotaped it. dinner was awesome, some kind of stuffed chicken-y thing. ben landis sat there posing strange questions to EB (and off-handedly the rest of the table) while everyone laughed. sarah and i scrutinized whose boobs would fall out of their dresses.
then the dancing started. i was kind of afraid that ryan would just sit through the entire thing like he did at gma's. but i was very VERY wrong. that boy danced more than i did. and awkwardly. it was great! we had dancing attacks with ricker, rickenback and their dates, and then sandwiched greg and sarah between ourselves and another couple, (i can't remember who). i can't really remember much after dinner except for lots and lots of dancing.
ERICA MADE PROM QUEEN! holy crap that was amazing! Max Duffy was prom King. I don't really know him, but Ben Wolf told me it was well deserved.
then more dancing. dancing through crowds, dancing in circles, dancing like your life depends on it, DANCING. it takes a while to get into it...but once you do it's impossible to stop.
then we all changed to go to the post-prom place. the bus ride was ridiculously long; i think the drivers got us lost. but once we got there it was spectacular. there was a giant inflatable obstacle course, a mechanical bull, a pool and hot tub, frisbee and tennis courts, volleyball courts, karaoke, and so much food. i wandered around for a while trying to find something interesting to do, and then found a whole bunch of my friends playing ultimate in one of the gyms. that was sweet. we played darks against lights until they kicked us out for the hyponotist. i didn't watch. instead we went outside to play more ultimate. during the second game i started to run out of energy. ben w and i decided we were about done with frisbee and went in to go to the pool.
i got side tracked when changing my clothes and did the obstacle course (huge welt on my elbow), and the bucking bronco, (20 seconds and a ginormous bruise on my leg). ahhh battle wounds.
the pool felt great after being sweaty and disgusting and covered in sand. we splashed around with beach balls and played on the diving board. chuck, ryan and i had an underwater contest, in which chuck screwed us over because he already knew he could win every time. i went into the hot tub with sarah for a bit, and then we all came back into the pool to hang out and talk. eventually they signaled us out, told us to get dressed, and loaded us back onto the busses.
i fell asleep on the hour and a half bus ride home. i used ryan as my pillow for most of it. he didn't seem to mind, even though i fidget like it's my job. we got back to the school, piled into his car, and drove back to my house to go to sleep.
there wasn't much actual sleeping, considering that it was boiling in my room with so many people in there. we eventually woke up, ate some breakfast, and then everyone left. my room is still a wreck cause i've been too lazy to clean it.
last night i fell asleep at 7 pm, completely exhausted, and woke up around 7 am. That would be 12 hours of sleep, ladies and gentlemen. i was so sore from the past couple days that i had to hobble down my stairs.
a few points of interest:
- ryan was an AWESOME prom date. the black, white and red ended up looking spectacular, so says my sister, who is my biggest critic. but most of all, it was good to have someone who i could talk to and have a good time with. thanks ryan.
- NICOLE'S NIGHT WAS AWESOME AS WELL!! we discussed it on the way home. everything seemed to work out so that there was nothing weighing on her mind.
- the ladies looked beautiful! apparently pink is courtney's color and no one knew. rachel's long curly hair, sarah friedman's princess gown, nicole's oceany flapper look, anne's pirate look, sam's movie star theme...everyone looked gorgeous.
- it was a night of absolute relaxation. no school. no goddamn school.
*sigh* what a great night.
