kidding. while i would never say no to lemon bread, i certainly don't mind giving rides for free if i am able. if you and i are in the same place and you are in need of transportation, please don't hesitate to ask.
Most friends won't mind giving a ride once in a while, if not too out of the way, and not last minute (I agree with the comments about planning ahead.)
While posting your request to LJ seems like a good way to ask in advance, it also seems prone to not getting responses and then making you feel isolated if you don't get to go where you wanted.
Some, when they see you're stuck walking, will be glad to give you a ride. Showing up somewhere without a way to get home can be more like guilting someone into transporting you though. This can be further complicated when somebody like you (who tends not to mind walking or biking a fair distance) is around somebody who doesn't judge that distance the same (and thinks of you as stranded if they don't help.)
Sorry if my conversation with you about this caused any stress or confusion. Feel free to talk to me more about it if you want to.
I'm planning on arranging or providing a ride for you to fletchers this Friday. Shafts are in (and pretty!)
Was wondering if you were going to weigh in...world_rim_walkeNovember 28 2007, 18:02:38 UTC
Part of the problem is the "most" and "once in a while". These qualifiers vary from person to person.
The issue with my willingness to travel further under my own power (like walking or biking) than most people is the reason why I often don't mention how I'm getting home, and don't talk about times that I have done so. I really shouldn't jerk people's emotions around like that. I'm also trying to cull my tendency to fish for compliments.
At this point I attempt to only ask for rides when I actually need it, when the distance or conditions seem excessive to me. Unfortunately this has, on an occasion or two, left me in the lurch.

We should probably talk.
