Working out in the garage has been a separation exercise for Colt. I've been neglecting his separation anxiety, and it's cost. Yesterday he chewed up the gear shift in the Baja, and today he tore up part of the back seat. He'd have done similar to the apartment though if I'd left him at home, so it's debatable which is better getting chewed up ( Read more... )

I highly recommend a crate. Keeping him crated, but in the same area as you will provide physical separation and make it less traumatic when you do leave. (Also crate him then!) I used this tactic with Marley when first got him and it worked wonders. His anxiety was cured within a couple of weeks.

He had a crate. The door is still somehow closed, and he's not inside of it. Haven't used it since.

Feisty buggah! Need a better crate then. The "free roam" that he's getting from whole rooms of isolation is not really effective, based on what I've experienced. :(
