I have started building a corner bookcase for our bedroom where the DSL line and wireless router live. There's an old, white one there from IKEA that's seen better days, so I took it downstairs today and put it on the back porch preparatory to putting it out on the curb next week. If it makes you feel any better, dress shoes would have been inappropriate for such an occasion in Trinidad. Anything more than leather sandals or loafers would have been "too formal."

I've more or less given up worrying what people think about me based on how I dress. I'm not on the make, and unless you're trying to impress someone who doesn't already know you. On the other hand, Lucy would want me to look (and act) like an adult for her boss, so I dressed up a bit for her and was pretty much well behaved all evening. You would have been bored ;-).

Well, I mean, obviously I would take a bit of care in dressing for a job interview, and I'm not out to "make statements" by my dress, so I'm not going to show up at a wedding in Houston in shorts and sandals, but other than that... And I added "in Houston" because I was at a wedding on Maui once, and no-one (but our party from Houston) had on coats and ties (and even we didn't have on suits), and there were a number of people in shorts, sandals, and Hawaiian print shirts. I was jealous.
