this is a beauty of a fic. i mean the not-so-bitter angst and poor silva and misguided villa. i especially loved stevie giving silva advice, that was classic gold. the writing in this was just extraordinary and really tugged at my heart. it was a pleasure to read.
thank you :) i'm glad that worked for you, i was so worried about it not seeming realistic, stevie not being much of a romantic advice giver and all, XD.
villa so would be someone who snores about it and denies it later, wouldn't he? and i loved s/x's conversation about xabi's bedside reading (lol!) and x's smoking habit!
your dissection of silva's relationship with mancini v. emery was really fascinating; i'm always curious about the dynamics between players and their coaches.
HE SO WOULD BE. he'd probably kick around in bed, too. and yay, thank you! I have a major xabi (or anyone -_-) smoking kink, it's disgusting.
thank you for the comment! :D i loved emery as a coach at valencia and was heartbroken when they pushed him out. he seemed sincerely invested in taking care of his players.
Well... I'm a bit late, but what the hell... I'm in this insomnia-fuelled stage of my footy fandom obsession in which I'm trying to shop around for a new pairing strictly for fic-reading purposes, but it's not easy because I don't know that many players outside of the EPL (and I'm sorry, but reading John Terry or Torres smut would forever damage me mentally and spiritually). I mean, I know them from internationals and CL, just not the point where most good, characterization heavy fic would really sink in for me. So THIS is exactly the kind of Hook Line & Sinker story I was looking for. Freakin exquisite and the kind of fic that makes you laugh, sigh and think, all at once

EEEKS i am so, so glad that you liked the fic! :D yeah, no, don't ever stoop low enough to jt smut...(though i admit, somewhat guitily, i may or may not have indulged in torres smut. IT'S ONLY BECAUSE HE'S HORRIFICALLY DOUCHEY AND I JUST WANT TO EXPLORE THAT OKAY.) but i was def trying to go for laugh and cry sort of thing, so i love that you found that in this :)
s/x are one of the classics. <3 ugh, xabi smoking. i have such a kiiiiink.
hello me replying to comment from LITERALLY LAST YEAR sdkfjsdlfsdf just now but hi !!! thanks so much for the comment. <3
AHAHAAHAHA tbh i'm a bit of an arbeloa/albiol shipper marchena just seems too much of a daddy figure for me to ship him with the younger ones, haha. tbh i don't know where i got that nickname from-- i've always called him that in fics/discussing valencia but can't remember if it had a source.
it's been a while since i wrote this, so i don't remember my exact thought process behind vultures-- i suppose a mix of just, vultures as a metaphor for people who swoop down on opportunities you left behind, and then vultures as a complement to bats, which is valencia's mascot/symbol, etc.
haha glad you finished it! that was one of my fave paras to write too, and it was born out of my own frustration, actually: i was looking to see if they could meet before the next nt callup, but all their european fixtures just seemed to miss eachother, it was maddening, so i made villa complain about it
