Dad would announce a few days ahead of time that we would go to the beach, assuming we kids had finished all of our chores for the week. We kids would work extra hard to stack wood, move paving bricks or whatever it was we were supposed to do to make sure we would get to go.

I would often put on my bathing suit the night before and sleep in it, so I ( Read more... )

Thank you for the compliment. I was thinking i would tell people about it as one of the home game entries, that is if other people thought it was good enough.

I had been reading ljidol for a while through a friend's account when she said I should make my own lj to write in.

Hi! Welcome to therealljidol! You should add more to your profile so we can get to know you better!

I have to echo kittenboo. Before seeing her comment, I too was thinking "What a lovely story!"

It was a great, positive take on the Walls topic. I'm afraid I've been Idol'ing too long because I kept waiting for something scary to happen, lol.

Very refreshing!

I have read so many scary, sad entries. So many people have had such tough lives, it hurts to read them.

I hope that I can make one or two people smile. So this is good enough to go in the green room?

Absolutely!!

I think they would be thrilled to read it, both as your take on the topic and also because, with just 17 entries left, it would be good to have more cool entries to check out!

(Please forgive my effusive !!!'s - I have a bit of an exclamation point problem, lol.)

I love it.

It reminds me of when my family would go to the lake (we aint got beaches in Oklahoma). My grandfather owned a pontoon boat and we would go to the lake for a day, usually a Sunday I think. It would be at least an hour of cleaning and getting the boat ready. Then we would finally set out with our sandwiches and sodas and water and other snacks. Zeyde (my grandfather) would drive us out to a good spot and everyone would set up their fishing poles. My grandmother and cousin Phillip were the best fisherpeople. They always caught stuff, Phillip usually with hot dogs.

And on the way back, we would stop at the Dairy Queen. :)
