They do seem to be going for a Dark Knight Returns feel, especially with the idea of an older Bruce who's retired from grief but finds himself drawn back in. I agree that the fighting part is really unlikely to be the climax, it's much more likely to be the beginning!
Affleck's Bruce really works for me, somehow. The scene where he runs into the dust cloud choke me up every time I see it. It is very, very Bruce.

Anyway, haha yeah! Looks like we have Lex to thank for bringing Clark and Bruce together in the movie. Who would've thought? Lex Luthor - unsung hero of the Superbat fandom.
Actually, I don't remember where, but I read a theory that Lex may already know Supes and Bats' secret identities, and that he's actually the one goading them into a showdown with each other (for as yet unknown reasons). It does make sense though, given what Lex says when he introduces them to each other and his overeagerness about it all - on the other hand that could just be the way Lex's non-villain persona behaves lol :s
I just found a bunch of really great trailer breakdowns on Youtube done by some guys who really seem to know their stuff. They cover Doomsday, the similarities to Dark Knight Returns, and there's a mindblowing theory about Jason Todd and the Joker. Just wow. They're really worth watching. And I can't wait to see what they have to say about the latest trailer!
I just signed up here at LJ tonight so I could join this community and talk about Superbat/Cav-El/Batfleck/Wondergal/Aquamomoa maybe. But it's late! I'll come back tomorrow night to post more than just fangirl squees.
