Treachery--Shiro Sagisu
i can feel the alarm bells are ringing in me
i can touch but I know you don't feel a thing
i can pray but I know you commit a sin
i can sense now its all become clear to see
you're no good and you mean no good treacherously
"Escape, Silverburgh? No, I won't simply evacuate this island--I'll kill every single member of FOXHOUND first. They will understand the consequences of opposing Liquid Snake."
Mainly a sort of FOXHOUND-exclusive battle theme; Liquid was betrayed by his own squadron, those he came as close to trusting as Liquid Snake could. He took his bloody revenge, eliminating them one by one and rewarding them as traitors deserved.
Viva La Vida--Coldplay
revolutionaries wait
for my head on a silver plate
just a puppet on a lonely string
oh who would ever want to be king?
"I am...no longer your commander, Meryl."
Basically summarizes the Shadow Moses rebellion itself. Liquid believed being overthrown as commander was the ultimate rejection in a long list of them; a fall from grace confirming his inferiority and that he had been worthless as a commander. Also serves as something of a main theme song for MGS1-era AU!Liquid.
His World--Zebrahead
because the pressures of this world, they can take their toll
and now it's time to get away when they take their hold
and the only way to break free is to break the mold
can't stop now
lock and load
don't you stop now
come on and rock and roll
"You fail to understand the consequences of your betrayal--!"
A battle theme of sorts for the Shadow Moses incident. Standing alone against the world's most elite soldiers led by one of twin Snakes armed with the greatest weapon the world has ever seen, Liquid faces impossible odds, where reality says that he is fated to lose. Therefore, he has to twist 'reality' and break 'fate' for the first time in thirty-three years.
New World Symphony Movement IV--Dvorak
[instrumental]
"Such a shame, brother."
"A shame? You're one man on foot and I have REX activated at my command--lamenting your fate?"
"Not at all...it's merely a shame I'm going to destroy your lovely new weapon."
Metal Gear REX, the revolutionary weapon destined to bring about a new type of warfare, twisted to become the mechanical messiah of Outer Heaven. Whether it succeeded or failed, REX would bring about a new world and be entwined with the fates of Liquid and Solid; with which would live and which would die.

Hero--Chad Kroeger f. Josey Scott
and they say that a hero can save us
i'm not gonna stand here and wait
i'll hold on to the wings of the eagles
watch as we all fly away
now that the world isn't ending, it's love that I'm sending to you
it isn't the love of a hero, that's why I fear it won't do
-dialogue/explanation-
Wanted Dead or Alive--Bon Jovi
sometimes I sleep, sometimes it's not for days
and the people I meet always go their separate ways
sometimes you tell the day
by the bottle that you drink
and times when you're alone all you do is think

How Far We've Come--Matchbox Twenty
I believe the world is burning to the ground
Oh well I guess we're gonna find out
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Well I believe it all is coming to an end
Oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend,
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
